I have an early reassurance scan between 7-8 weeks on Friday. What should I expect to see? Does anyone have theirs from around this stage I could see? I’m excited but very anxious after a loss in October!

I had an early scan at 6 weeks and I just saw a little blob Grin but I could hear the heartbeat so hoppfully you will be able to hear the heartbeat and see a little baby in form of a blob lol

You will probally see a little blob on the screen.. Won't look like a baby just look like a peanut shape or just a blob shape. Maybe able see/hear heartbeat too usually can between 7/8 weeks if dates are correct

Congratulations! I had an early scan at 8 weeks. At that stage, it was hard to make out, but I could see the head and was shown the heartbeat. At my 10 week scan, he or she was much more recognisable. It was still great to see them though and know everything was ok. I wish you the best of luck.

A lot of places won’t let you hear the heartbeat but you can see it, so don’t be disappointed if you only see it, still magical! The other thing is, I have seen a few people go for scans saying they are X weeks but measuring less and then panicking. Remember the weeks is a little loose at this stage so maybe go in expecting that it could be less so that you don’t panic after. I’m not trying to be negative but trying to help you enjoy it as much as you can!

Here you go op, 7 week scan 10 days ago. Yolk sack and a kidney bean Grin. You should be able to see a flicker of heartbeat too.

I could only see a blob but I also saw the heartbeat

Jomum2020 · 04/01/2020 13:24

Thanks everyone.

@Jojo19834 a very good point I have been reading all these threads of people worrying so I’ll try and keep an open mind, I just really hope there’s a heart beat there so I have the reassurance things are going the right way!

@LimpLettice thank you for sharing!! Aww it’s already a cute little blob. I hope your pregnancy is happy and healthy!

Good luck - I had scans with both DSs at 5+6 and saw and heard the heartbeat with both.

DS1 had a strong HB, DS2 less so and OBGYN guesses it had only just started beating earlier that morning.

By 7-8 weeks they were very cute blobs, by 10 weeks even more so.

Now they're 8 and 5 years so wonderfully noisy and affectionate blobs...

@Jomum2020 that’s what we all want, hope all goes well on Friday. I have my second tomorrow morning and worrying just as much as if I hadn’t seen the heartbeat at 6+5. I’ll be 9+4 tomorrow. (First was with IVF clinic, I’m not that addicted!)

This scan was exactly 8 weeks, scan was vaginally as they attempted to do the tummy one but discovered I have a tilted uterus so couldn't see a thing. But vaginally is much clearer at this stage I believe.
We could see his little arm & leg nubs, and you could tell his head from his body. Heartbeat was clear as day and lovely to see. He hadn't started moving yet (saw him at 9 and he was wriggling!)
Enjoy!

Here's mine measured at 7 weeks (though based on my dates at 12 weeks I was actually 7+4). Also saw the heartbeat which was just the tiniest little flutter on the screen
