I had an early scan yesterday.

I am not sure exactly when my last period was (yes, I'm an idiot), but I had a faint but clear positive on 6th December - so I thought I was about 7.5w

They put me at 6+4, with a clear heartbeat. Sonographer was unconcerned, though by their dates is only have been a few days post conception when I got my positive.

I'm a bit anxious as I've had 4 past pregnancies - first two worked out, third was an early miscarriage, fourth baby had Downs and other severe abnormalities, and I had a tfmr. He had also measured a bit behind at this stage, so I'm having to work not to freak out!

Whatever the outcome, this will be my last pregnancy. Just wish I could take some pleasure in it.

Flowers for you. I “failed” scans and baby was perfect when we finally met him. But you know this!

Thank You! It is reassuring to hear.

My DS2 and DD both measure a week or two behind my dates at my early scans. Clear heartbeats heard both times. By the time I had my 12 week scans they'd caught up both times.

I asked the peeps on scanning me and she said 2 weeks either side date wise at early scans is what they consider normal. They're still so small before 12 weeks it's hard to get an accurate measure

I've also had 3 loses so understand ten worry

Thanks @commoncoot, I really appreciate it.

Do you have a longer than average cycle? Maybe you ovulated more than 14 days after your last period?

I went for an early scan thinking I was 7+5 going from my LMP but baby only measured 6+1. I panicked and posted on here to be told that it's fairly normal for the dates/sizes to be out this early on and not to worry too much. I was also told that because my cycle is 32/33 days normally, I would have ovulated later so not to go by my last period.

I'm new to this and still learning but I've looked into it a lot since my last scan and definitely feel more reassured than I was! I've got a follow up scan this week when I should be 8 and a half weeks going by last scan so it'll be interesting to see if baby has caught up any or if the first scan was right.

Nothing to worry about, I got 'put back' 5 days at my early scan but at my 12 week my EDD was back to spot on my LMP date. It's hard in those early scans for the sonographers to get a totally accurate measurement as baby is so tiny

Friend of mine had this happen earlier in the year, scan pushed her back a week. She's just had the baby, was induced 2 weeks early because he was huge! 9lb 13oz at 38 weeks. Should have kept her original date in my opinion!

I had an early private scan which put me 4 days behind my dates then at the 12 week scan they brought it back to my dates.
Not had my 20w yet.

Early scan tent to be inaccurate on dating.
I had a scan at 7 weeks and was told I measured 5+ weeks. No one was concerned apart from me. I knew I can be off a week but it was impossible I was wrong almost 2 weeks on my dates( DTD only once in that cycle).

My dating scan at 13 weeks dated me only 3 days smaller, so early scan as inaccurate.

There are so many of this threads here on this and so many with good outcome even if early scan dates smaller. The fact you saw a heartbeat and baby it's so positive.

Try to relax and enjoy baby!

I was just over a week behind on my scans to my dates, I do have long cycles though. Currently nearly 27 weeks and all is fine Smile
