Obstetric cholestasis - any advice? 2nd pregnancy

I am currently 39 weeks pregnant with DC2. In my first pregnancy I had OC which developed at around 34 weeks, was induced at just under 38 weeks, all fine and baby was born healthy.

This time round I have been itching but blood results so far have been normal. This week I had bloods taken at my request again as the itching is still there (hands and feet), I phoned out of hours for results, was told by a midwife (who checked with a consultant) that they're 'slightly raised but not yet cause for concern' and to make an appointment for next week to check bloods again. So this morning I phoned to make my appointment and the midwife said the results are fine and I don't need to make a repeat blood test appointment. There was no record on their system of my phone conversation last night so she doesn't know who I spoke to.

The BA were 9.4 and ALT 19, which I know are OK as they're under the diagnosis cut off of 14 and 40 respectively and were MUCH higher in my previous pregnancy, but maybe the consultant was comparing to previous test results and noticing an upward trend?

I dont understand how one consultant can think this needs checking again while a midwife says the opposite. Is anyone able to shed some light with their experience? This isn't the first or indeed second incident of blood test confusion at this hospital (they cocked up big time in my previous pregnancy with something unrelated to OC), so I am not filled with confidence.

Not really any advice I am afraid as I have never had this. All I would say is if you are uncomfortable and not happy push for alternative.

I am currently 21 weeks and have extreme itching on my feet, soles and palms. I went to doctors Friday and had blood tests for liver but because weekend still waiting. Very anxious as I don’t know what to expect and hope we are not at risk

Thanks @Scoobydoo1. If the itching persists then do get re-tested every 7-10 days or so, as there can be a delay from symptoms presenting and the blood test results catching up if that makes sense. I may be wrong, but 21 weeks is quite early for diagnosis I think?

Try not to feel anxious, because while it can sound a bit alarming, if (if!) you're diagnosed then it'll be all managed and controlled. Everything turned out fine for me last time, it was just the unbearable itching!

It's very frustrating that not a lot is known about the condition so I can phone up different doctors/midwives and get different answers every time Hmm
