How to encourage labour

Hi ladies,

Any tips for inducing natural labour - no matter how bizarre! I'm so ready to have this baby out. Been bouncing on ball a lot and trying to stay active. Just wanted to hear others experiences so I can try something new! TIA 🙈

I saw my midwife yesterday and she told me that the only thing that works is sex. Apparently the pessary used in an induction is a synthetic seaman .... so the only way to finish it off is the same way it started.
Im in the same way atm, get this baby out!!
Good luck 🤞🏻

@Engard I heard the same. I literally just cannot bear the thought! I feel so sorry for DP because we try and it's just awful 😂 might have to put in one last ditch attempt!

I don't mind but my husband doesn't want to know! He's weirded out about the whole thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

My midwife told me repeatedly that sex, masturbation and nipple stimulation were the only tried and tested ways to bring on labour (she kept saying this every week from 37 weeks on, think she was keen for me to have a great time before baby arrived!)

In the end what brought mine on was a very long waddle around my local big Tesco on the evening of my due date. Up and down every aisle. My waters went the following lunchtime!

Sex yes but also housework and shopping (apparently).

Apparently sex, sex and more sex! I've heard it's a mixture of the hormone in semen (PP mentioned above) and orgasms to release oxytocin. I've also been told Clary Sage essential oil makes the uterus contract so to burn or diffuse that and to pump. I'm in the same boat so trying everything I can to get baby moving, although a big part of me knows there's only so much I can do to bring it on Hmm

I'm sure I read the only thing with some scientific evidence is nipple stimulation although the thing about semen is true, but noone has proven it works. Perhaps all the people having sex were doing a lot of nipple fondling too Wink

Thanks ladies, I've hoovered today and cleaned the conservatory windows and now I have awful backache. Although that could be because I was bending to clean the windows 🤔 but hoping this could be it!
