Morning ladies going from the last day of my period (18th Nov) I should be around 6 weeks 4 days pregnant today but my cycles have been quite irregular ranging from 28 days - 38 days so don't actually think I am that far on even though they base it on that. My question is due to recurrent miscarriages I am now under gynecology and they said the next time I get pregnant to ring them and they can get me in for an early scan. I rang them yesterday and I have a scan booked for next Friday but I'm so worried that's going to be too early because of my cycles and I'm not going to see/be able to hear the heartbeat and I really don't want an internal scan just due to the fact of me being so worried that it might cause problems and I want to do everything I can to keep hold of this baby. I'm such an anxious and nervous mess due to having so many miscarriages now that I just don't know what to do as I couldn't cope going through it all again.

It’s from the first day of your last period, not the last day.

6 weeks plus is optimum for a scan, hopefully to see a heartbeat. Good luck x

I've had internal scans in previous pregnancies and it's never caused a mc or any problems.(don't think they would do them if there was a chance) They only put the tip of the probe inside. If your before 7 weeks when you go you may not see heartbeat but will see the pregnancy progressing. And as pp said its from the first day of your last period not the last day.

Aww I no how you feel :-(

I also have suffered recurrent miscarriages.
Originally they wanted to scan me at 8 weeks. But I was in so much one sided pain I had to have a scan at 5+5 to rule out ectopic. It turned out to have been a ruptured cyst!
At 5+5 I had an internal. Honestly nothing to worry about. And I saw a little heart beat and yolk sac.

They won't see anything doing abdominal I don't think. It's been literally the most nerve wracking few weeks. I'm now 9+6 and have a bouncing baby inside me. It's so so hard to be positive. I literally took 3/4 weeks off work because of anxiety & morning sickness and I was exhausted.

Goood luck! & try not to worry (and trust me I no that's easier said than done) 🙈 x

I had a vaginal scan at 6weeks and 1 day and I heard the heartbeat :') so you will be able to hear the heartbeat if you go for it xx

I meant first day 🤦‍♀️ Thank you ladies I think I might try and re arrange it for the following week just so I can hopefully be guaranteed to see something and it be an abdominal one rather than a vaginal.

I’ve had two early scans at 6w and they were perfectly clear abdominably x
