Anyone suffering with back pain in pregnancy?

Hi all, I'm really suffering and have been for the last week, I'm 17 + 6 and am worried this pain is going to get worse as my bump grows! 😫

It's a really severe pain in the bottom of my spine on the right and goes down my bum, it's very similar to the pain of a slipped disc I had 6 years ago, I'm literally yelping when trying to put weight on my right leg and the pains so strong it makes my teeth chatter. It's worsened when I've sat or lay down for more than 10 minutes, I can't sleep in our bed at all now and spent last night on the sofa as it's much firmer. I've been taking cocodamol but trying hard to only have 2 a day, on one day I took 4 but will try not to do that again.

Is anyone else suffering and have any advice please? I had 3 hours sleep last night and am consoling myself with the fact it's good practice for when baby comes!

There are special belts you can get, which are designed for back support during pregnancy. If the cocodamol isn’t working for you, the doctor may be able to advise on a different painkiller or alternative options, such as massage/physical therapy. You could also check your mattress, as sleeping with poor support can be really bad for your back. If you work, look at the environment and how it might be improved, for example ergonomic chair and/or footrest if you sit all day. Good luck!

I was struggling and had a few physio sessions and they gave me some exercises to do. They've helped massively and I'm barely noticing it now. It may come back of course as I get further along (24 weeks atm) but the physio reckons I should be okay if I keep the exercises up

Great thanks ladies, I'm going to order one of the belts and we do definitely need a new mattress so we're going to order one Sunday, in the meantime I'll pitch up camp in the living room x

I’m 14 weeks and over the last few days have had really bad lower back / tailbone pain. My googling suggested that pregnancy yoga might help so I’m going to look for a class near me. Plus the usual pillow between the knees at night etc. I’ve ended up moving into the spare room so I can have more room to get comfy at night.
