TMI Diarrhea instead of vomiting?

Can diarrhea be a substitute of vomitting with hyperemesis?

I am 10 weeks pregnant and been feeling awful for the last couple of weeks. I have nausea from morning to evening and throughout the night, which causes insomnia. I can't do anything throughout the day, mostly laying down and get through the day. I have diarrhea every time I eat and more so beyond 5 times a day at least. I am not vomitting and was wondering if anyone has experience diarrhea has a substitute of vomiting during pregnancy and could that be HP? I am seeing my midwife today so should find out more but would still love to ear your experience.
Thank you

I didn't have vomiting but terrible indigestion, stomach ache, gas and a mixture of diarrhea and constipation! I don't know if it was instead of vomiting or if I got lucky with that part. It started about 6 weeks and got better from about 10, pretty much gone by 12 week. My only thought is that if its only started more recently, could it be a bug?

Ohhhh child, I’m currently 11+3 and I had the WORST diarrhoea until about a week or so ago!

I had a previous pregnancy (which sadly resulted in a MC at 9 weeks) and the diarrhoea was the same! I just said it was my version of morning sickness!

It’s all to do with the progesterone according to my midwife! My best friend gets terrible diarrhoea every time she gets her period! Damn hormones!

Just drink lots if water and speak to your GP if concerned

Xx

@Keha yes could be a bug but seem to be lasting a bit too long

@MrsRose2018 sorry about your miscarriage. I had a miscarriage last year and the first symptom was diarrhea. This time is very different because the nausea among other pregnancy symptom is very strong, so not too worry about the baby. More worry that I can't stand up all day long and spending my time in the loo. am I a terrible selfish mum already :)? You are right probably my version of morning sickness. Quite reassuring to hear

I am literally going through this right now and was wondering the same thing is this diarrhoea an alternative to morning sickness everytime I eat anything I'm on the toilet nausea all day dizziness I start back at work on Monday not sure how things are going to go

I am now onto my third pregnancy and have had an upset stomach/diarrhoea in all of them. Never vomiting but always queasiness and diarrhoea after I've eaten... which is undoubtedly worse in the first trimester but present throughout the pregnancies ....

I just think it is your (and my) version of morning sickness!!!

MrsRose2018 · 03/01/2020 23:49

@Grainedesesame god I’m sorry I didn’t mean to mention my MC in the sense that you should be worried something bad was happening! Just that in a previous pregnancy I had chronic diarrhoea as well as this one!

One thing I will say is my pregnacare vitamins (Max and regular) made it SO much worse!! They were like
Laxatives! So I switched to a regular folic acid and a boots 10mg vitamin D!

Hope your poops get better :) lots of fluids

Xxx

@New2this19 congrat on your pregnancy and sorry that you are going through this. It's pretty awful! How are you coping?

@CheesePleaseLoueese any lessons learn from previous experience on how to soothe both diarrhea and nausea?

@Grainedesesame the toilet issue seems to have settled a bit but I just constantly seem to have gurgling upset tummy that makes it really difficult to do anything. I'm 37 and 6 weeks, I'm putting a lot if it down to age. Going for a 6week scan tomorrow, praying everything is ok.
How far along are you?

New2this19 · 05/01/2020 23:53

@Grainedesesame I just saw the answer to my question. Are you currently working? I'm supposed to be back tomorrow, but I dont think I can stomach it (excuse the pun)

Grainedesesame · 06/01/2020 06:24

@New2this19 how exciting you are going for the first scan! Let me know how it goes. I'm 36yo and currently 10 weeks along. I'm supposed to get back to work today but have been in bed for most of the last two weeks and can't barely hold myself up. I will see my gp and see if I can get some medicine to go through the week. How do you feel today?

@Grainedesesame sounds like we are having mirroring symptoms. I opted to stay in bed again today, called in sick. I'm a teacher but it's a training day today so I dont feel as guilty. I just cant take the thought of having these tummy troubles and being at work. My gp is supposed to be calling me today so I'll let you know how that goes.
Think I'm going to hold out till thursday for the scan which will be 6+5.
So sorry your feeling so poorly, its miserable isnt it x
