Hi all, I’m 11 weeks pregnant. I’ve quit smoking with a bit of a struggle. From 20 a day down to 1 or 2 and now none. I’m curious did anyone smoke during their first trimester and everything was ok? I’m worried only just quitting will already of caused some harm :(

I put down my last two days ago, I'm 28 weeks pregnant (was smoking around 5-7 per day) I'm going to smoking cessation appointments weekly and I'm using one of those nicotine inhalator at the moment just to take the edge off. I'm crippled with guilt and know that I will never forgive myself if my baby has health issues when she is born.
So far, all my bloods/tests/scans have come back completely spot on, baby is growing as should be etc. I've just been very lucky and I don't intend to jepordise that now! Stop now whilst it is still early days! I wish I did.

Well done for you for telling your midwife and trying your hardest to stop. It’s so difficult and people are so judgemental. I keep getting terrified if I have a miscarriage it’ll be because of the cigarettes and I’ll never forgive myself. We all know it’s not worth it but the addiction has its way of convincing me just one more and then I’ll stop! Hopefully I’ve cracked it for good. Lovely to hear your baby is doing well. Can’t wait to get my screenings done.

@2020mumtobee
I think telling the midwife was the most difficult part for me, worried she was going to lace into me but she was an ex smoker herself so she said she completely understood what I was going through.
My cessation advisor is brilliant and extremely supportive of me, I'd highly recommend being referred if you are starting to struggle.
I totally agree with you, there's always something in the back of your mind saying 'one more wont do any harm' and before you know it you're a packet down. Please let me know how your scan goes! Good luck sweetheart! ❤

I stopped 6 weeks ago I was 13 weeks at the time. Not missing it. Currently 19 weeks and I read my baby's lungs are developing this week.

Well done on stopping, you should be very proud of yourself. Instead of thinking of any harm you ‘might’ have caused instead focus on how much you’ve reduced the risk of harm by stopping and how much you’ve reduced the risk of SIDS after baby is born by being a smoke free home.
