Constant headache & Nausea

Hi everyone

I am 8 weeks and 3 days pregnant with my first baby. Since I found out I was pregnant about 4 weeks ago I have had nausea which just seems to be getting worse along with a constant headache that feels like my brain is pushing down (only way I can explain it). I usually throw up a small bit in the morning but the nausea and headache is constant throughout the day, the only time it eases is when I am eating. I try to sleep it off as it tires me out but I can't just sleep all the time and I work full time as well so I can't really take a nap during work lol. I have been sent home from work a few times but my employers do not know I am expecting as it is still so early.

I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to make the nausea ease off even for a little while so I can feel a bit normal throughout the day? I know so many people have sickness so bad during pregnancy and I don't want to sound like a hypochondriac but I am really feeling drained and awful. I'm too scared to speak to a gp incase they just laugh me off.

I've gone off so many foods/drinks which is to be expected but A few things that have helped me before (but are no longer effective) are:

Banana milkshake
Bananas
Chewing gum
Orange juice
Apple juice
Tea (decaf)
Toast

Any help would be appreciated and thank you so much in advance
Sorry for the lengthy post
Xx

Hi. I’m 14 weeks now and have had nausea since 6 weeks. It was really bad at around 8 weeks.

Not much helped for me unfortunately except for making sure I ate every 2 hours even if I didn’t want to. I’ve been getting headaches as well - with DD I had no migraines for the entire pregnancy (I usually get them every month) so thought it would be the same but unfortunately not. I’ve realized that 1 cup of coffee and 1 paracetamol really helps. I wanted to avoid both during pregnancy but kept getting 3-day migraines and I was in agony and couldn’t sleep.

I’ve recently started taking b6 and magnesium and have been feeling a lot better but might just be a coincidence because now I’m out of the first trimester.

Hang in there!

Also staying hydrated and drinking lots of water even though it’s not too appealing when you feel sick and it’s winter time

@PracticallySpeaking thank you so much for your reply!

I'm going to try and eat every two hours because I'm so off my food at the moment that I don't think that's helping at all. all I really want to eat is potato based food, yoghurts or ice cream/lollies. I've completely gone off meat at well.
I took 1 paracetamol last night before bed and it did take the edge off as I struggle to sleep when the headache is on full form but completely off of my coffee! Used to be a bit of a coffee addict😍 but I found this morning having a hot choc seemed to have a nice effect 😀. I think when the migraines are this bad paracetamol can't be avoided as much as we would like to. But I did speak to my gp today and they said it sounds like I may have low blood pressure so will have to get an appointment first thing Monday to have it checked. He also offered co drydamol for the migraines but I said no due to having one previously for a toothache and it making me so drowsy. I'll just stick to the one paracetamol when needed for now I think.

Sorry for rambling and thank you again for your reply! I hope you have a great weekend! X

Glad to hear your doctor is taking the migraines seriously - mine told me just to drink more water 🙄

I’ve gone off meat too which is odd for me. Hope you have some luck with the eating frequently.

You have a great weekend too! X
