Dating scan put me back 4 weeks?

I’ve had an early dating scan today just for personal reasons, I thought I was around 9 +3 but the Sonographer said she can see the yolk sac So says around 5 weeks. Is it possible to be put back by 4 weeks or could she be wrong? My last period was 27th October I’m so confused right now.
Thanks

Well I can't tell you for sure what's going on with yourself as I don't know what your cycles are etc but I was technically 14 weeks from my lmp at my 'dating scan' when in fact I was only 9 weeks. Now 36+2 so everything was fine. I have pcos and miss several Periods at a time so only got caught pregnant after my 2nd missed period. X

Can’t give you any sound advice but it might reassure you to know that somethings similar happened to my friend last year, she’d missed 2 periods but only dated as if she’d missed 1. She has a perfectly healthy and happy baby boy now.

It comes down to whether you know when you ovulated or it you are basing your pregnancy gestation purely on your last period. When did you get a positive test?

Boymummy3,
Thanks for that,
Well my cycle is normally around 28 days and I am always bang on date to that, I got a positive test a week later then when my period should have arrived, but what I don’t understand is that I have only had unprotected sex the once on 9th November, which would have ment I’m around 9 weeks? Am I right? Not too sure. But early dating scan said around 5 today... x

I imagine you have been offered another scan in 10-14 days and I hope that brings reassuring news.

JLT1995 · 31/12/2019 18:59

Yes I’m booked in on the 18th jan, which I think is a little late... I booked an early scan purely on the midwife couldn’t fit me in u till mid January which also didn’t make sense. I just can’t help but keep thinking maybe it’s a missed miscarriage? As it’s impossible for it to date back 4 weeks... there was a yolk sac and a tiny embryo starting to develop x

I think your right it could be a missed miscarriage, but also very likely you ovulated late... we all miss periods every now and then, maybe you were having a long cycle..
When did you get a positive test, as that would help on working out dates.
I hope it's good news, try and stay positive. Xx

I tested positive around 9 days after my missed period which was 27th November. X

I'm sorry but if you tested positive over a month ago and the baby is only measuring 5 weeks it is almost certainly a mmc. Is there a possibility that this could be a new pregnancy, have you had any bleeding since you tested positive?

TraceyLee84 · 01/01/2020 10:42

You could have ovulated late

JLT1995 · 01/01/2020 11:45

nope no bleeding
