Down Syndrome Screening

Hi everyone,

I’ve had my results back from my Down syndrome screening test and was given a 1:12644 chance of the baby having Down Syndrome. I know this is considered low risk but it seems quite high compared with other peoples results I’ve seen considering I’m 23.

Does this seem like a higher number to anyone else? I don’t know what is the average people receive Confused but I’m seeing that some people my age are getting a score of 1 in 1.5 million which makes me worry!

What do they actually look for to come to this figure?

Thanks for any advice!

That's not high at all. I wouldn't worry

The NHS screening can be quite vague and inaccurate. If you're concerned you can pay for the harmony test.

The risk is approximately 0.008%. So not worth thinking about Smile

That's a nice reassuring figure! I've a friend who had a 1:150 at 22 but there was still no need for additional testing.
