Late 12 week scan.

Hi all,

I have my 'dating' scan next week but I'm worried about the timing. I will be 13 weeks 5 days, but the screening tests can't be done if I'm over 14 weeks 1 day, which is such a small margin.

With my first I measured a week ahead at this stage!

I've stressed my concerns to the hospital but they just can't fit me in any other time. Anyone else had this?

I had mine done at 13+5 and everything was fine they could still do everything that needed doing and the screening ect so it will be fine xx

I sympathise, they'd booked me in for mine at 14+3 which I understand is too late for the screening. Luckily after a lot of phoning a cancellation came up, so I managed to re-schedule for when I'll be 12+3 this Friday instead.

Hopefully as you're still within the timeframes the screening will be ok for it (not sure how strict their cut off dates are). I did look at going privately for mine had a cancellation not come up, so that's always an option if you want to make sure, but I think it's £100s to have those tests done not on the nhs.

Had my first scan at 13+3. It's pretty common to have it at that stage. Keep in mind there have been holidays which means less appointments and less staff.

Yes I also had mine really late. I think they were just so busy at the time!

Yes this has happened to me, I’ve got my scan on tues which I will be 14 weeks and worried they can’t do the testing.

13+6 is the last day that they can get accurate nuchal measurements for the combined screening. After this you can be offered quad screening, which is slightly less accurate. Bear in mind that they may adjust your dates slightly.

@hayley94 mine was ment to be the 27th dec but they rearranged and now I’m going to be 14 weeks when I go on Tuesday x

I bet that was heartbreaking them rearranging! Let me know how it goes x

With my eldest i couldnt get scanned till 16 weeks as fell through the system due to moving areas. They couldn't do the nt measurements but they couldn't see anything that warranted an amniocentesis

I went at 12 weeks 6 days and baby was in such an awkward position they couldn't do the screening anyway!

I had mine at 14+4, too late to do screening through scan had to have blood tests at 16 weeks instead.
