Can you feel Braxton Hicks in your upper back/chest area?

I have this on-off pain like a tight band around my rib cage/between my shoulders.

At first I thought it was heartburn (never really had it in my life so nothing to compare to) but it comes and goes in waves and I know from a CTG the other week that I was contracting regularly. I haven't really felt any in my bump but have had some in my lower back.

Rennies/Gaviscon doesn't help but taking paracetamol seems to ease it but don't know if this is perhaps a BH thing or just a heartburn issue? Either way it's keeping me up at night and attacking me big time on the sofa now.

Sounds like trapped wind to me but without being able to feel what you are feeling its hard to judge.. I have BH in lower back lower bump and baby pushes up into my ribs and it kills but never in upper back/shoulders. Maybe mention to your midwife?

Is it a feeling related to pins and needles? I have nerve damage in my back and get sensations like that occasionally, but frequently in both my pregnancies.

Hi @Boymummy3 I did mention to her before and standard response was any pain in chest area I should go to A&E...seemed a bit extreme!

I did think trapped wind but it's often and nothing seems to work to shift it? And it comes and goes, so I'll have 30-45 seconds of pain and uncomfortableness, then it's gone for about the same amount of time and comes back again. Seems to repeat for about an hour.

Weirdly when I had contractions in both my labours I could feel them in my chest/throat/shoulders like a general tightening/discomfort rather than pain though.

I am having mega early BH. This is 3rd baby.

I feel it in my chest a bit, it sort of ‘takes my breath away’ when it happens. Doesn’t hurt just makes me feel breathless.

Thanks - might call assessment unit and ask them. I am 35 weeks now.
