Have any of you got any positive stories of either yourself or friends having a healthy pregnancy at this age?
I'm shocked but realise I really want this. A much wanted surprise.
And also know it's high risk.

Any successful outcomes anyone know of?
Thanks

Not me personally, but I know someone quite well who had a baby at 48. She did have some health issues after and not sure if linked - but she is fine now, and baby is absolutely fine. My grandma had my mum at 44 as well. The risks are higher and it depends on how far along you are, but your odds are still quite good. Good luck!

My friend just had a baby at 46, she and baby are fine Smile

A friend of mine, her sister was late 40's. All well. I know of several women who had babies in their mid 40's.
Good luck!

Luisa Dillner wrote a regular column about her experiences in the Guardian:

I know of someone who had her first pregnancy at 47 and was delighted, all went well. Also someone in a friend's family was 53 when she had her last baby - had no idea she was pregnant but all was well despite the lack of medical care on hand given the element of surprise!!

So congratulations and the best of luck. Amazing news Flowers

Yes I know someone who had a second child at 47 - she was fine, although exhausted!

PurpleBee39 · 30/12/2019 16:56

Huge congratulations to you. I hope everything goes well x

Yes a friend had her first at 47, very healthy pregnancy, she was running up until about 6-7 months. Had a gorgeous healthy baby, no problems.
Good luck!

And she’s back running now, baby is 10 months old

WorldEndingFire · 30/12/2019 17:06

Yes, a friend married a younger man and had healthy twins(!) aged 49. She has managed magnificently.

Blimey! Thankyou so much!
I wasn't letting myself get excited. I've got a ds 9 so already had him fairly late.
Gosh. Perhaps I can let myself be a little bit hopeful then. But realistic too.
