I am 14 weeks pregnant and just had my dating scan which showed my baby was all ok. I've bought a few things from mothercare before baby scan but now with there 50% off closing down sale I'm super tempted to pop down there for more. My boyfriend thinks it's too early but I just want to get bits whilst I can if it's going to close down!! What sort of things would be good to get now??

Xx

I think your past the main at risk zone. I started buying then lost baby at 7 wks. But you should be ok now. I would look what is in the sales. What you get but partly depend on space you have. You may not want to get bulky items yet if storage is a prob, but if you see something at a bargain thats great.

Go for it, I would however avoid buying a pushchair, just because you want the 12 month warranty to last as long as possible after baby is using it.

I have started as wanted to take advantage of sales. I bought a bedside crib as it was at a pretty decent discount and some clothes. Not much as am still anxious. Am 15 weeks.

Mothercare might not have much worth getting.

We have a huge store near us and it is now just full of tonnes of the same hideous clothes and shoes.

I bought a pair of booties at 12 weeks but waited until 20 week scan to buy anything else, but that's what I felt comfortable doing.

It's up to you.

Agree don't get anything you a warranty on. Footpassenger is flat pack so easy to store. If you don't know the gender, raid the boys section and get baby grows, Vests etc. Blankets too.

I think it's whatever you feel comfortable with. I waited until 20 weeks but had early bleeds and so was more edgy and anxious that things would go wrong! It was all smooth sailing after around 16 weeks so I felt comfortable by 20.
If I'd had no issues, I'm more than sure I wouldn't have held back at 14 weeks

Enjoy your pregnancy! Thanks

I waited till 20 weeks. Don't go mad on clothes you'll be given alot probably.

17caterpillars1mouse · 30/12/2019 14:50

Having lost a baby at 19 weeks and having known people who have terminated for medical reasons after the 20 week scan I wouldn't go mad. It would of been so much worse losing our baby if we had loads of baby stuff bought for them around the house. After 12 weeks is generally out of the danger zone, but I'd hold off another few months personally

I started shopping a bit after 12 week scan but didn't get big expensive things, or non returnables till after 20 week scan. If everything is okay at 20 weeks it is very likely everything will be okay and you can't ever be certain so I wouldn't hold back from getting something you want. At the same time, we got given lots of clothes, moses baskets, play gym, bouncer chair, blankets etc, cot, it's remarkable how many people have stuff they dont need any more! So, might be worth holding out to see what you get given!
