Hi guys

Very new to the site so please bear with me 😳 so I was made redundant on the 12th and started a new zero hour contract job on the 16th. Still no contract signed as of yet. I found out I was pregnant last night and am guessing I am around 7 weeks. My problem is telling my new employer I'm pregnant. It's a very little company of only 4 staff. I don't really no my rights or undstand them with no contract . How long I should leave it before I tell her?! I am so anxious about it all. Could really do with some advice and a little pep talk. I am So scared of been out of a job and nobody hires anyone pregnant no matter the rules 😱😭

Thank you in advance 😘

I don't have direct experience of this, but the below link has some useful information. From a quick skim read, I don't think you will qualify for SMP, but you should be able to get maternity allowance.

maternityaction.org.uk/advice/zero-hours-contracts-maternity-and-parental-rights/

You don't have to tell your employer until 15 weeks before you are due to give birth and most people wait until they are past the first trimester at least (unless they are working in a risky environment) so I wouldn't say anything for now and focus on getting that contract sorted.

Good luck.

Do you mean it doesnt work or doesnt have useful info? Because there is loads in there on rights for pregnant workers and employees on zero hours contracts.

@adelet86 you need to have a contract to have rights.

Keep harrassing them if needed but you absolutely need to sign that contract.
And you dont need to tell them.
In fact i feel like i have been pushed to admit i was pregnant because i wasnt drinking at events and obviously tired and now i miscarried and it makes the whole thing even worse.
So i would wait a few weeks before telling work and would definitely sign a contract before..

Good luck OP!
