Piles and Thrush - Can’t take it anymore

I’m sat here crying On the sofa as it’s just gotten so unbearable.

I have had a pile for 2 weeks and I think thrush for about 4 days. I’ve treated both with every OTC and natural remedy I could find. But the itching is completely unbearable. Couldn’t get a GP appointment last week with Christmas, same with midwife contact. It’s absolutely horrendous. In my head this needs to stop or this baby needs out (27+3) as I just can’t take it anymore. I’m exhausted as it’s disturbing my already disturbed sleep.

Fiancé has just fallen asleep whilst I’m unable to sit/lie still so I’ve come downstairs as I’m really annoyed at him which just is the icing on the cake.

I just can’t do this anymore. I need it to stop 😭😭😭 will ring for a GP appointment at 8:30 but I’m terrified I won’t get one if I say ‘urgent’ for today due to piles and thrush as the receptionists are awful and it’ll be mega busy. I just need some relief 😭😭😭

Tell your gp surgery that you're pregnant and you don't want to discuss the nature of your issue with a receptionist but you need an urgent appointment. I'm sure they'll fit you in.

@RealMermaid thankfully I called and got an appointment for 11:45 without too much difficulty (hoping I didn’t dream it in my sleep deprived state!). After 2 hours sleep and finding no relief from anything since 3am I need them to do something. That’s works fast. I can hear fiancé moving upstairs so I’m sure that will turn into a fight imminently too. Loving pregnant life 🤦‍♀️

Ouch, that sounds rotten. Hope the GP can help

Didiusfalco · 30/12/2019 09:16

Do you have a consultant gynaecologist? I had thrush throughout pregnancy that I couldn’t get rid of (also piles) I was just as you describe - a complete mess. Got nowhere with anything from GP. I told the gynaecologist and she prescribed me a course of 7 pessaries to be used over a week. This completely cleared the thrush when nothing else had.

CatintheFireplace · 30/12/2019 09:36

As well as whatever you get to treat the issues, ask if you can get a 2% lidocaine cream for numbing. It really helped me Flowers

JessicaPeach · 30/12/2019 09:40

Yes agree with above. Vagisil worked better on my piles when I was pregnant than anything else! I feel for you, my piles were so bad in pregnancy that it was something that put me off having a second baby. Hope you feel better soon

Keyboard91 · 30/12/2019 09:57

@Didiusfalco I’ve never seen a gynaecologist as never had a real problem down there until now. When I have gotten thrush in the past it’s been easy to clear up.

@CatintheFireplace Will ask about lidocaine cream. There is lidocaine in germaloids but even that doesn’t seem to work anymore, but assuming it’s a lower dosage?

@JessicaPeach Vagisil is one thing I haven’t tried! Will grab some when I’m out as will try anything!

Yeah, the amount in germaloids is small, the vagisil 2% stuff is what you want.

My doctor also suggested magnesium sulfate paste poultices 3xday for piles... I did that for a few days and think it did shrink them a bit. Other than that germaloids (ointment plus suppositories) and just spending time lying down so there's not so much pressure on them. Mine were really bad about 10 days ago but seem to have calmed down a bit now.

CatintheFireplace · 30/12/2019 10:15

Oh, and my doctor said I couldn't use the germaloid steroid cream because I'm in 1st trimester so maybe you can later on? (Obviously check this with the gp though!)

Keyboard91 · 30/12/2019 13:46

So GP was very understanding. He’s prescribed scheriproct ointment and suppositories for my back end and a few pessaries and cream for the front end. He said to try and give it a few days, but if no better or I feel like it’s getting worse then I should get seen urgently again. The butt stuff has a stronger pain killer and anti inflammatory than anything OTC 🤞🤞🤞🤞 this stuff works!

Good news OP. Fingers crossed it works!

R2D2abc · 30/12/2019 14:04

I feel for you OP!
Last week was the same! For me the over the counter worked thou, a bit slow but still did.

I also washed my front bit with warm water and a little bicarbonate of soda dissolved in the water, it's supposed to help with thrush.

Hope you get well soon!

Hi
I know this is a very old post but how we're your piles? I'm in first trimester and my piles are so painful. I had piles prior to getting pregnant which doesn't help. Using germaloid ointment. Is the steroid cream something different to the ointment?
