Feeling generally faint/weak

I'm 8 months today, been having regular pregnancy symptoms but the only one I'm really struggling with is feeling faint/dizzy. I understand it's normal to feel very tired but does anyone else struggle with actually feeling lightheaded almost constantly?

I actually almost fainted at work last week! Went for a long country walk with DH earlier and had to keep sitting down to rest-very unlike me.

Is this normal?

Could you be dehydrated/have low iron?

Fwiw I'm 36 weeks and noticed a real chance in what I feel able to do over the past few weeks.

I get like that, although I'm only 15 weeks. I have been presuming that it is my iron levels.

(I was on iron tablets before pregnancy but spent the first 3 months throwing them back up so I think I'm a bit depleted).

Maybe see if the midwife or GP can arrange a blood test?

OP, I've been feeling like this since I hit around 28-30 weeks.

I can't do anything basically. I get completely out of breath tired just walking up the stairs. I cleaned my bathroom today and had to stop twice to rest..

I tried to go to boots the other day and felt dizzy. Nearly passed out. I get completely exhausted doing anything.

I don't have any issues apparently ! No low iron/- nothing. Every test I have done shows I'm perfectly healthy. The way I deal with it is that I just take regular breaks when I'm doing stuff. Just to recoup. I'll drink some water/ have a snack. Lie down a bit and then I can continue for a guy doing whatever it is I need to do.

It's just what the third trimester feels like for some people I think. But make sure to get checked out !

Oh god I'm such an idiot!!! I meant 8 weeks, not 8 months! I was reading your responses getting confused and I saw my mistake. Sorry!

Will have a look at iron levels.

I’m the same and am 30 weeks.

At my last antenatal appt they told me to take extra iron which I have been but I haven’t noticed a massive difference - if anything since then I’ve been sleeping worse and feel even more tired after doing stuff but I think it’s more just as I’ve gotten bigger it’s just going to happen.

I would definitely mention it at your next appt as there’s a difference between just being wrecked and actually almost fainting several times a day as obviously that’s quite different and could put you at risk while driving etc so no harm to get it checked out if needed.

Just take it easy regardless, this is my second pregnancy and i was the same last time - you hit a certain point and anything is an effort!

At 8 weeks it may also be worth asking your midwife if you need extra folic acid. I was on 5mcg for the first trimester as well as my usually pregnancy vitamins.

jammiedodgersss · 29/12/2019 19:25

I had this , low iron levels !

Boymummy3 · 29/12/2019 19:29

Same here for low iron. I persume at 8 weeks you havnt had your booking bloods done yet? If not they will check for this when you do have them done. All the hormones won't be helping either. Make sure you don't over do it when your doing stuff and keep as hydrated as possible

Crazypanda85 · 29/12/2019 19:32

Ah okay, had booking appointment on Friday so it may come up then! Any tips on upping iron. I've just checked it's already in my pregnancy vitamins. Just wondering what's best to take/eat safely?
