Maternity leave

I've officially started mat leave, but as it's Christmas my partner is off and it just feels like we're having the usual Christmas break. I'm dreading him going back to work because I don't know what to do with myself! What did you do/plan on doing during your mat leave? Friends and family all live very far away (we moved over an hour away and got pregnant straight away, great planning there) and even if they were close I don't have the energy for much socialising. I want to stay as active as I can but I have social anxiety so going out and about alone is extremely daunting, but staying in the house all the time is counter productive because if left to my own devices I'd become a recluse!

Any tips to pass the time? I'm 37 weeks x

Sleep and relax as much as you can. My DD is 4 months and my god I miss lay in's!! 😂
Any jobs around the house you have been putting off? I did a lot of cupboard organisation during my mat leave pre baby.

Don't do anything!

Rest as much as you can! If you have the energy, batch cooking for the freezer would be handy. As would doing a thorough deep clean of your house so you don’t have to do it again for at least a year. Sleep lots and enjoy the silence Grin

@shutupsteph I feel exactly the same! Started mat leave at Christmas and dreading DH going back to work as won’t know what to do (other than clean 😂!). My family also live far enough away. I’m hoping I get a good weeks worth of house things sorted, in and amongst some walks, naps and tv! We’ll be really busy soon!

Batch cook and freeze meals, nap, relax and have the odd walk... or whatever you feel like doing. You'll appreciate it in those first few weeks.

I've been pacing for an hour and a half with the 5 week old in a sling because he won't nap anywhere else, I'm hungry and wishing I still had some frozen meals!
