15 week midwife appointment

I have my 15 week midwife appointment on New Years Eve. What do they do at the 15 week appointment ? Is it just urine sample, blood pressure and blood tests ? Or do they check for heartbeat ? If so what is the likliness of hearing heartbeat at only 15 weeks? I'm not exactly the skinniest of people I do have extra weight around my belly (size 16)

At my 16 week appointment (might have been earlier actually) I heard the heartbeat. You always get your BP and urine checked at every appointment.
However, I know my colleagues who are pregnant at same time as me, who live in a different health board than me didn't get to hear the heartbeat until after me, so it may be different considering what the policy is I guess 🤷

I was offered hb and she found it, also not a skinny person. That was the highlight of the visit! The rest was just urine test and asking a few questions. Blood results from previous visit but I already knew about that.

I heard hb at sixteen weeks and also not skinny.

Majority of midwives won't listen in to baby at 15/16 weeks so please don't pin your hopes on them doing so.. It's different in different areas of course but majority won't do it so early. Usually it will just be urine dip/BP and blood results from booking app.

It was my most pointless appointment in pregnancy one, urine dip and blood pressure, in and out in 5minutes. So I skipped it with baby2.

I heard HB at 16 week appointment - like PP I'm also not skinny!

Some will offer to try and some won't as it depends on the positioning of the womb so even if there is a heartbeat they may not be able to hear it with the doppler if the foetus is still very low down.

Hey OP, I just had my 16 week appointment last week - they check the Babies heartbeat, take a urine sample, check your blood pressure and have a general chat about how things are going, how you're feeling!

Heartbeat depends on the area you're in.
I heard it at 16 weeks then moved to a different area (only 10 mins away) and the midwives were amazed that I'd heard it as they don't offer it until 20weeks so don't be surprised if you do hear it.

Mine was just discussing blood results, urine test and a 'how are you' chat, and booked 20 week scan😊
