Rib pain.... anything to worry about?

I've been getting bad rib pain since about 12 weeks (I'm 25w now). Today it's getting quite bad and getting mid back ache to. Is there any point I should worry? Or is it completely normal throughout pregnancy? It's always in the same spot and the pain feels like I'm bruised. No position seems to help, it's driving me mad 😫

Most likely nothing to worry about it. I get awful rib pain & I have in both pregnancies from around 12 weeks. It’s called rib flare and related to ligaments stretching to accommodate baby. I find it 10x more uncomfortable than any back/hip pain as it’s so hard to support them or stretch them out! I’m afraid I have very little advice on making it feel any better, I’m yet to find a great answer other than stretching and I have a wedge shaped pillow (looks like a block of cheese) which I jam underneath them in bed or on the sofa. It does help a little!

That said, severe rib pain on the right side can be a concern in later pregnancy. It’s one of the pre-eclampsia signs. But that’s def not to worry about at 12 weeks .. just something to bear in mind in the later stages! But if you’ve had consistent, regular rib pain from 12 weeks, you’ll notice if it’s suddenly much worse!

I'm getting this at the moment, am 30 weeks. Spoke to midwife and she said it was quite a common complaint. As PP says there is a symptom of pre eclampsia which is pain around that area. If you are 25 weeks have you recently seen mid wife or about to? She'll be checking for signs of pre-eclampsia now, I would imagine it's most likely every thing stretching. Haven't found many ways to relieve it yet, but do find sitting up straight and not slouching and stretching my arm above my head helps - basically any thing to pull my ribs up away from my uterus!
