Twin pregnancy, empty sacs at 7 weeks

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and went to the EPU this morning because of bleeding and fainting.

The scan showed a twin pregnancy, but two empty sacs.

This will be my 4th miscarriage and 5th pregnancy (two before and two after DD).

I'm not really sure why I'm putting this here. It's unlikely anyone has any hopeful stories for me. Feeling guilty and sad.

I am so sorry @Sizeofalentil ❤️ I think we've spoken before on the miscarriage board.

Have you got a follow up scan? Sending lots of love xxx

Sizeofalentil · 24/12/2019 10:56

Thank you. Yes, follow up scan in 10 days but it's unlikely to be good news if there's nothing in there at 7 weeks. It's probably for the best to be honest - we wouldn't have coped with twins.

Have you had or been offered any testing? I've recently had some blood tests through the recurrent miscarriage clinic and had a hysteroscopy this month. It's probably too soon to think about it at the moment.

Be kind to yourself, it's a massive shock Flowers

@Michette I'm so sorry. I miscarried our 4th Baby 12 weeks ago and tomorrow will mark the one year anniversary since I miscarried our 2nd Baby

Sizeofalentil are your dates right? I'm only asking because I went in for an early scan due to a possible kidney infection at the time and because I'd previously suffered 3 early losses and I thought I was 7 weeks. All I saw was an empty sac but it turned out I was actually only 5 weeks at the time. I had another scan 2 weeks later and had an embryo and yolk sac but no heartbeat. Sadly I did go onto miscarry at 9 weeks but everything crossed there is still hope for you

Sizeofalentil · 25/12/2019 11:48

Thank you everyone.

I'm pretty sure of the dates and think the empty sacs are too big to be 5 weeks. The sonographer did record it as an early pregnancy rather than a failed one, but I had this a few months before so know to expect the worst.

I'm unsure if I want genetic testing- I won't be trying again and feel like I'd find the results too upsetting. I'm suspecting that my body is killing off these embryos at an early stage and not sure I can handle the guilt
