Sore under boob... Rib flare?

I'm 30 weeks pregnant. About a week ago, I started to feel a sore, chaffing type feeling under my right boob. I thought my bra was perhaps digging in or rubbing and expected to see some obvious reddening of the skin under my bra line. I am wearing non wired bras and have been for a while. My skin isn't red or sore looking and the bras dont actually feel that tight. I've changed bras to a soft crop top and tried putting a barrier cream on. However it hasn't got better and the pain has spread a bit further over my ribs below my right boob. It feels like it is on or under the skin, sore, a bit of a burning type pain. It doesn't feel like when you pull a muscle. I can cope with it but it's a bit distracting. I'm now wondering if it's actually my ribs being stretched, or rib flare. Anyone experienced any thing like this? (my blood pressure is normal and I have no symptoms of any thing else). Thanks!

I'm 32 weeks and having similar issues on my right side - I keep going to adjust my bra but then realise it doesn't feel right. Maybe just baby position irritating?

Hey @Keha. I had this in my first pregnant but earlier on. I thought exactly the same that it was my bra. In the end I think it was my ribs changing position to accommodate bubs. Do you suffer from reflux at the moment? That can also cause high pain under your ribs.

Hiya, thanks for your responses. I am getting quite a bit of heart burn/reflux yes. Gaviscon is keeping at at bay I thought. Perhaps it's that as well! Thanks for your responses, good to know it's not just me!

Ah is that what that was? I didn’t have any redness but for a good few months I had like a cramp and the skin was kind of numb under my right boob
Still is pretty numb but the cramp has been gone for a while now. Due date is today

It sounds like shingles if it’s on the skin... rash might come in a few days if that’s the case? No extra risk in pregnancy, but stay away from people who haven’t had chicken pox

@keha I had this!! On the left side though. Couldn't find anything online about it so spoke to a friend who is a postnatal physio. She recommended going to an antenatal physio (I found one locally) who basically diagnosed back pain (very stiff vertebrae where my bra strap sits) and this was causing referred pain around the front and side of my ribs. A few appts and massages later and I am 95% fixed! Hope you find a solution - you have my sympathies, I was in total agony 😭
