20 Week Scan Worries

Hi :)

I have my 20 week scan on Friday...where I will be 20+6 wks.

Everything has been normal- normal scan, normal heartbeat, normal midwife appointments & I am a healthy woman of 29.

I just cant shift this worrying feeling for my 20 week scan!! I keep going to buy baby clothes and then think twice about it. I know I'm (fingers crossed) being dramatic! I think its purely based on the fact that I'm not sure I have had any movements (which i also know is normal in first preg). My bump however has come out of no where in the last week...which I am taking comfort in :)

Is anyone else in the same boat as me/has been?!

It’s normal to feel that way OP.

I didn’t feel an movements at all with my first until 22 weeks.

The scan will put your mind at rest. Good luck.

Bless you, I was literally physically sick with nerves just before my 20 week scan with my first, I totally get it Flowers

I'm sure all will be completely fine!

Perfectly normal bless you, I always felt a bit anxious before my scans! I just always rationed that what will be will be. It’s completely out of my control. And whatever happens, we’d face the decisions together! Thankfully I’ve been very lucky & all has been fine Smile

Good luck to you, just enjoy Christmas and all the celebrations in the meantime!

Thanks everyone!! :)

I thought I would stop feeling this way after the 12 week scan but turns out its come on again with the 20 week scan!!

Like you say- whatever will be will be :)

First time pregnancy here! I was wracked with nerves before my 20 week scan as like you I'd felt no movements but this is completely normal and in fact the NHS guidelines say up to 24 weeks is normal (just over 23 for me). Morning/all day sickness had stopped a few weeks before so I had no real symptoms to tell me I was still pregnant. I still didn't quite believe it when the sonographer was doing it but 7 weeks down the line, I'm reminded with every punch to the foof!
Enjoy this scam, they take loads of measurements etc so it was a lovely long scan and I just found myself staring at the screen.

Hi @ThinkPink71
I have my 20wk scan 10th jan.
I haven’t felt anything yet.. I may possibly have? But could not be certain. And it’s my 3rd!! I do have anterior placenta. It’s quite normal not to feel anything this early. Don’t panic about that.

I can’t tell you not to worry about the scan, as I am sure you’ll worry anyway! But enjoy seeing your little one on the screen again, it will be clearer and better than last time and then you are halfway thru the pregnancy!! Best of luck x

Also I'm trying to take comfort from the fact that some of the things they look for at 20 week scan are things that are reparable after birth (which would still be scary of course) but not necessarily incompatible with life.
