I'm so confused. Baby no 2, 36+3. Woke at 12am and was having contractions 10-12 min apart. So, so tired, was trying to sleep. I have an elcs booked but knew I had a long way to go and I have a 2 year old so didn't want to wake and panic the household over nothing. 3am I fell asleep. I've woken and they've stopped. I just now feel I have a dull ache, like the onset of period, in my womby (!) area and lower back.

So confused Blush with dc1 it was straight forward. Was this just a dummy?

I would probably ring the hospital. It could just be Braxton hicks, but you're also quite close to due date so worth checking

I had this for a whole night. Got to 3minutes apart went to hospital got monitored..... nothing. Cervix closed! Said it was painful Braxton Hicks and to rest! I’m
35weeks been having them on and off since ..... so weird. This is my 3rd

Ah OK. I didn't want to worry my DH over nothing. I will keep an eye on it obviously and see how I go I guess

I had this with my DD2 - 3 hours of contractions, 15mins apart in the middle of the night for a week. I would wake up and get on with my day like normal (but exhausted) feeling like I’d dreamt it all. I also didn’t want wake anyone (2 year old DC1 here too) At a routine appointment the midwife suggested that this was quite common.

After a week of this, the contractions came back in the morning, irregular and manageable. Things hotted up at 10am, called the midwife, baby was born at 10.30am!

I was told by a few people ‘slow start, fast finish’.

So yea, could definitely be early labour - probably best to call triage for some advice especially if you’ve got an ELCS booked

Op ring triage and get some advice love they might get you in to check x

DanielleMcGivern · 21/12/2019 07:49

Just has my baby on the 15th. I would get checked out just incase, I had contractions on and off for hours they were getting as close as 3 minutes apart but only lasting 30 seconds. My baby was born the next morning.

Boymummy3 · 21/12/2019 12:31

Sounds like braxton hicks if you could sleep through them.. I've been getting really painfull ones thinking it's labour then it eventually eases off. But I agree with pp too give them a ring see what they say they may want to just give you a check just to see what's going on x

Thanks. I was absolutely exhausted. I was really surprised I fell asleep and just as surprised to wake up a couple of hours later and they had stopped. I've been really uncomfortable today, with mild period like pains, mainly at the top of my bum. But I don't know how much is my head now. I have had three 'contractions' in the past 50mins or so. I've started recording them now. I haven't called triage as last baby they just poo pooed me anyway. I told DH and he had a heart attack until I said they stopped. Its just such a pain for us to get childcare and go to the hospital for nothing, I am in a pickle..

I'm 37 weeks with dc4 and had this yesterday evening op, a few hours of proper strong contractions that went from 10 minutes apart down to 5 minutes apart and was full sure this was it until it stopped dead in its tracks after I ate Hmm Cramps and periody now but no sign of any more tightening.

Fwiw, I had absolutely no episodes like this in my first 2 pregnancies but it happened with dc3 and I spent a night in the maternity before the pains died off. They released me the next morning and DD was born the day after that.

So annoying when you don't know for sure though!

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 21/12/2019 13:31

Yeah it's so frustrating @Taibhse. Baby is going absolutely crazy in there too which is making me wince alot 😬 I hope you get to the bottom of yours. Its scary so close to Christmas!

Yep with 3 DC's I can't afford to miss Xmas, and where I live, they keep you in a minimum of 48 hours so I don't want to go into labour any time between Monday and Thursday. Scheduled for a cs just after New year. If you go into spontaneous labour will you go with it or still opt for the cs? I was hoping to go normally before mine.

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 21/12/2019 13:54

Same here. I hope if it's going to happen it's today! It would give me some time to get out and home. I think we would go ahead with the section as I have been given a low chance of successful vbac delivery.
