Only 9 weeks but already on my 3rd prescription! Was hoping to have my certificate or card by now. When did yours arrive?

My midwife gave it to me on my 12 week scan and then when I went to the pharmacist I didn’t even need to show it, I was already registered on the system

Have you had any midwife appointments yet?

BikeRunSki · 20/12/2019 18:22

I didnt know I was entitled to one until it came through the post think it was around the 10 week mark because I got my 12 week scan appointment on the same day, if you have saved your receipts you can claim the cost back but no one has ever asked to see mine x

CoffeeAndCarbs · 20/12/2019 19:31

I had my booking appointment at 8 weeks. My midwife applied for it there and then and I received it in the post a week later x

strawberry2017 · 20/12/2019 19:39

I had to fill in the form at the doctors; I think usually after your 12 week scan is when you can apply.

HappyAsASandboy · 20/12/2019 19:46

My midwife applied online during my booking appointment and the exemption certificate was emailed to me a few minutes later.

Can you ask your GP as they can probably do it too?

peanutfoldover · 20/12/2019 19:55

Yes I saw her last week. Didn’t occur to me to ask about the certificate until I shelled out £18 for tablets! Lol

Hopefully she filled in the form after the appointment.

Never, tick the maternity exception without having had applied for one first. Or expect the very real chance of getting a fine few months later. To be honest I have never applied for one as I have a medical exemption card that needs to be renewed. I know one person who had to pay a fine, but they were eligible for medical exemption card and not maternity exception. My gp receptionist sorted out my card for me. I just had to fill in a short form.

MooseBreath · 20/12/2019 22:00

My midwife gave it to me at my 16 week appointment when I asked for it. Waiting on the certificate now (17 weeks).

Bol87 · 20/12/2019 22:13

I got a form to fill in at my booking appointment at 8 weeks, I posted it a couple days later & I had it by 10 weeks. It’s back dated to around the 8th week of your pregnancy (or at least mine is!)

You can claim all your prescriptions back but you do need to ask for a special receipt from the pharmacy. I have HG and was on a lot of meds from 6 weeks. I had about £50 worth of prescriptions to claim back! Pharmacist didn’t look impressed 😂 the receipt you need is a blue A4 piece of paper!

chloeemma · 20/12/2019 22:21

My GP gave me one as haven't seen a midwife yet. So you maybe able to phone and get them to fill there part out. It's also valid a month before you set it up I believe :)

lioness88 · 20/12/2019 22:23

Shorty after my 8 weeks booking in.

Ethellsmum · 21/12/2019 12:32

Do they come by post or electronically these days?

HappyAsASandboy · 23/12/2019 12:25

@Ethellsmum mine came via email a few mins after my midwife filled in an online application form.

Chocqueen99 · 26/12/2019 22:53

Im 34 weeks and i was told they didnt do them anymore so ive never had one, when i get a prescription i just tell them im pregnant!

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/12/2019 23:04

I got mine at the same time as my Mat1B form - after the 20 week scan.

Alderaan · 26/12/2019 23:16

Mine was emailed to me immediately after the midwife had filled in the online form at my appointment. No pharmacist has ever asked to see it though.
