12 Week Scan

II was pleased today to get my scan date for the new year when I'll be 12+3 but I'm also pretty nervous as I've not had any pregnancy symptoms at all, other than the positive test.

If all is ok at this scan, do you think I should tell work afterwards or wait until the next scan? I'm not sure what the norm is. I plan to tell friends/family after this scan so feel I should tell work then incase word somehow gets out. However if I did have a miscarriage later on I'd find it harder with everyone at work knowing rather than just friends & family.

Also did anyone else struggle to get their first scan around 12 weeks? Mine had been booked in for 14+3 leaving it too late for some of the screening at that stage. I only managed to get it changed after lots of chasing and because they had a cancellation. This makes me think the next scan might be late too and equally I don't want to tell work too late or when I'm already showing.

With my first I didn’t have any symptoms. No morning sickness etc, just tiredness.
Around me most scans seem to be sent out around 13 weeks.
I sneakily went a bit early for my first midwife appointment so I got my scan at 12 weeks

Tell work whenever you want too. Depending where you work they may need to do a risk assessment but if you only want to tell them after your 20 week scan that's entirely upto you.
As for symptoms I'm same as pp I didn't get none at all with my 1st. Only thing I did get was towards the end some heartburn but that was it.

Glad to hear some other people don't get symptoms either, I honestly think I'd still have no idea had I not missed a period.

I guess I will just have to see what the scan says, so glad they were able to bring it forward by a fortnight - I'm already feeling impatient waiting!

My scan will also be when I'm 14 weeks. What screening is it that's too late to do then?

I think it's if you want the combined test for Down's syndrome. I think they said 14+1 was the cut off for it and I'd be 14+3 by the scan, but if you're 14 exactly that should be ok. If you're concerned probably best to double check with them

Hi @Sorbet18 my scan is booked for the 10th of Jan when I will be just over 12 weeks. I have also had little to no symptoms. I did go for an early scan at 7 weeks which showed heartbeat and that everything was fine and reassured that not everyone suffers with symptoms and that I should just feel lucky. I have however still spent the last couple of weeks feeling very anxious but trying my hardest not to worry.

Ah that's good news that you saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks, I'm now kind of wishing I'd done that for peace of mind. It's just difficult with all the waiting isn't it.
I feel very fortunate that I haven't had morning sickness, but feel that I should at least feel more tired than normal or something!
