Hi all,

I've seen a few threads recently about people applying for mat pay and it taking numerous weeks. I've sent in my Mat B 1 form and notice of maternity leave to my work who have come back and given me a breakdown of my allowance (statutory) It doesn't say I need to do anything else with it but after reading all the issues people have had on here, I'm wondering if I need to still contact hmrc or someone like that? (Can you tell I've never claimed anything in my life?)

Are all of these women struggling to get payments processed having to go through hoops because they are out of work / not worked in their job long enough or enough hours etc etc? Am I safe to just sit back and wait for my money when I go off after next month?

If your employer has confirmed you will be paid SMP it will be paid by them as your salary has been. No need to do anything else.

@Mylittlerainbow You must have read my mind!! I was just talking to my employer about this a second ago and wondered the same thing.
I read lots of people having to wait for payments ect and it worried me too.
@NeedAnExpert thanks for confirming!

The waiting issues are with maternity allowance, which you only claim if you aren’t entitled to SMP.
