Gas and bloat - 38 weeks

Hello all. Just wanting to pick brains on bloating and gas in v late pregnancy.

I’m almost 39 weeks and since the weekend I’ve been getting very bloated, with lots of bowel movements and smelly wind. The last especially feels like my body used to before I sorted out my IBS with the low FODMAP diet (and no, I’m not eating any of my triggers!) and is very uncomfortable as well as stinky. It's bad enough that it is keeping me up at night, hence my 1am posting. I am finding it very uncomfortable to lie down.

Googling this stuff isn’t easy, given that gas increases in 3rd trimester anyway, so I was hoping that there might be some personal experiences that could help me to work out if my IBS triggers have changed, or whether this is yet another pregnancy symptom I just have to live through 😆

TIA!

Are you having loose stools? I’ve read that diarrhoea can be a sign of impending labour...

I’m only 8 weeks and a first timer so no personal experience, but hopefully it means your body’s getting itself ready?

I'm 35 weeks and have been more frequent pretty much throughout. I would normally be a bit more constipated but definitely not during pregnancy. I'm taking copious amounts of peppermint tea but not really sure it's doing all that much. The wind is frequent and I have very little control over it due to previous birth damage which is pretty mortifying. Usually if I do have the painful trapped wind and night and take a peppermint tea my stomach will have settled by the time I wake up in the morning.
