Bleeding after miscarriage

I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. This has been managed naturally but I have now been bleeding for 6 weeks. By around 4.5 weeks this was light spotting and then from nowhere I had really heavy painful bleeding. Would this have been my period? I had no break in between the bleeding. Would I have ovulated while still bleeding? Now one week on the bleeding is much lighter, generally just spotting but with the occasional 'stringy bits!'. Could I still have retained products? I was discharge by the EPU before my HCG had reached 0. At my last scan there was still stuff that needed to come out but they didn't offer to scan me again. Would it be worth going back to EPU or is this reasonably normal?

Firstly I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had 2 miscarriages last year and in my experience the heavy bleeding was likely a period (you don't have to ovulate to have a period) just like after childbirth, miscarriages can completely screw up your periods for months and they can be heavy with stringy bits in it. That said, if you are worried I'd give the epu a ring and tell them everything and they will be best to advise you properly
