When did you get SMP breakdown from payroll?

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering when payroll are supposed to provide the breakdown of expected maternity payments? I start my maternity leave on 2nd January and just called payroll as I've not received anything yet. They said they'll send it in the new year... but that isn't very helpful in terms of budgeting. I have done the online calculator so know roughly what to expect, but would really like to have the official numbers. They have known my requested dates since about 21 weeks and have had my MATB1 form since then, so plenty of time. I've had confirmation that my requested dates are ok, just nothing about pay Confused

I had my breakdown in the post on 26th November, my last working day was the 29th!

It sounds like I was lucky as I had mine last week and start mat leave on 29th dec.

As far as I am aware there is no requirement to give a breakdown.

I never got a breakdown. It seemed like a totally random amount every month it was a nightmare!

I asked for a breakdown and was promised one in the post...which just turned out to be a notification of the total amount stat pay and company pay I was due! Not really helpful as it didnt include my car allowance. So far I've had a different amount every single month, it's been so hard to budget!

PotteringAlong · 18/12/2019 14:12

I never got one; they don’t need to provide one.

QueenOfThePumpkins · 18/12/2019 14:14

Ah, maybe I'm lucky that they're doing one at all then! For some reason I thought it was pretty standard. Thanks all :)

First mat leave mine arrived in the post the month after I had the baby.

Second mat leave it arrived the week after.

Both babies were early by a couple of weeks though so don't know if that had any bearing on it!

I've never had a breakdown in the past. Also start leave on 2nd Jan and not received anything so far...

waspfig · 18/12/2019 14:24

And yes, varying amounts each month. As mat pay is calculated weekly rather than monthly you get some payments for 5 weeks and some for 4!
