Didn't really want to post this but I don't want to spend hours trawling the net or the shops for that matter. In need of some decent stuff, blouses mainly, for work. Most of the stuff I've seen so far, Next etc has all clingy t-shirt type tops and only a couple of shirts which aren't really suitable. I'm fine with casual stuff and work trousers probably though I haven't bought any yet. I'd also like something nice for the evening. Can anyone recommend any high street shops or websites that sell reasonably priced stuff for larger women? I have bought 1 shirt that was in the sale which isn't maternity, just a size bigger but I don't really want to buy just bigger cos it's bigger all over. gosh, what a load of waffle about some clothes!!! tia

what size are u after? i've been scouring ebay for things in my size (20/22)

DelGirl · 29/09/2004 16:28

Hi Misdee, thanks for your reply. I'm about an 18. Apparently H & M do stuff so i'll have a look tomorrow but i'm not very hopeful of them having anything suitable for me. It's a bit of a pin. Looks like I shall have to do a trip to Southampton when my ms subsides .

Oh do let me know if you find things. I'm a 20-22 and I had dreadful trouble finding maternity stuff last year and end up just buying a couple of sizes bigger with elasticated waists from Evans.

DelGirl · 29/09/2004 16:37

oh and I thought you were going to give me some tips . tried on some trousers with elasticated waist but tbh, unless I buy them a couple of sizes bigger, they won't last more than a month probably. And they'd probably look awful on the bum, tops of legs, on me anyway. Not really one for skirts though I suppose that would be far easier.

Sorry to get your hopes up delgirl. Will keep my eyes peeled. Don't mothercare go up to 18?
How are you feeling? You must be 12 weeks now, are you?

Turtle35 · 29/09/2004 17:01

Mothercare and Blooming Marvellous do larger sizes, they say you should be able to stick with your original size when pg but I went from a 14 to an 18!! am now 36 weeks - I sure hope I can lose this weight.

fairydust · 29/09/2004 17:06

DelGirl · 29/09/2004 17:10

oooh, thanks, i'll have a look through those. Cadbury, i'm 11 weeks now so it should start to ease SOON. Are you expecting too then?

Checked those out but nothing really suitable. I guess i'm going to have to try some of those t-shirt type tops. Thanks though. Anymore?

Nnooooooooooooo!
Ds is just 1. I couldn't entertain the thought of another one at the mo.
Hope your morning sickness eases a bit soon. It's a good sign that it's a strong pregnancy when you have bad m/s, I'm told. Something about the hormones being strong. Take it easy.

misdee · 29/09/2004 19:04

delgirl, have u got the NEXT catalogue? they do have some dressy stuff in the book. i think its page 2 of the site. H&M go upto a 20, am gonna take a trip to watford myself soon to check out their stuff.

i'm now 17/18weeks (not really keeping track) and have a small bump. my baggier clothes look silly.

I got some beaded jeans from next the other day and they look fab, the sides are elasticated so can look more fitted. atm have them on the smallest setting.

Hey Delgirl!

I am an 18/20 and was pregnant last year. I found the best places to get clothes was Next, H & M and Pumpkin Patch. H& M is also good if you want to get some nice tops etc that aren't Maternity - I got some really nice 'smarter'/going out tops from the BIB range, in a size 22. I have to say I lived in their Jersey bootcut trousers last year, really comfortable and you could just dress them up or down as you needed.

acnebride · 29/09/2004 20:12

got my size 18 stuff from 9 months and more but it depends what they have listed at any time. just couldn't face paying all that cash. got some nice tops in the dotty p maternity sale but they were no good for work.

lydialemon · 29/09/2004 20:17

Try La Redoute as well. I got a few bits from them as well and they go up to a 20.

Also Vetbaudet go up to a 22.

DelGirl · 30/09/2004 18:11

Thanks for the links peeps. 9 months or more looks like a good site but there wasn't anything suitable at the mo. I went into H & M today. Got all excited cos I saw a few nice things but sadly, they were all a bit on the small side so no good i'm afraid. Ok if you're a 14/16 though and quite reasonable too. Shall try ringing round the shops tomorrow. I tried the Debenhams website but there's no maternity wear listed on there but i'll give them a call tomorrow and let you know how I get on. and the search continues!!
