Very anxious week 5 scan

Hi I’m very new to this and very anxious.

Please help and advise.

I had an internal scan yesterday at 5 weeks and 1 day. They could see the pregnancy sac and yolk but no baby or heartbeat. I was told to come back in 10 days for another scan. Is this normal? Have others had the same experience? Or should I be seeing more at this point?

I have had a missed miscarriage before.

I’m extremely anxious and suffer with anxiety anyway so now it’s through the roof.

Please advise

I think it's totally normal not to see the heartbeat til 6 weeks at the earliest! I had one at 7 weeks and saw the heartbeat, so hopefully all will be ok when you go back in 10 days

From what I understand that sounds normal for being so very early on. You might even be earlier than 5+1.
5 weeks is a very tiny speck.

My weeks scan had an empty sac no yolk no baby... they still told me it’s nothing worrying at this stage.
So i would be happy if i were you !!! You actually have a yolk so early on :)

Waiting game I’m afraid, hard. Hope its good news at the next one.

My scan at around that gestation just showed a sac. Two weeks later there was a tiny little bean with a heart beat. He’s now a grumpy teething toddler.

Also, do seek help for your anxiety with regard to pregnancy, if it’s affecting you a lot day to day. I did and it really helped.

I only scanned then as they wanted to check it wasn't an eptopic pregnancy which it isn't thankfully.

Ok this is perfectly normal then?

My next scan I will be 6 weeks and 3 days, should I hopefully be able to see a baby then?

Even 6 weeks can be very early to see baby.. it’s not uncommon for them to struggle. Bear in mind baby is the size of a seed! But the fact they’ve called you back means they obviously think they’ll be able too

They say usually between weeks 7 & 8 to see heartbeat. You won't see baby as such just a blob at 6 weeks tbh. Some do see heartbeat around week 6 but if they can't find one when you go back don't worry as it will still be fairly early.

Far too soon at 5+1 to see anything other than the very start of a sac to rule out ectopic.

Same thing happened to me at my 6 week scan. I went back at 8 weeks and everything was fine, baby was there.
