Hi there Smile
Sorry, I wasn't sure whether to add this to the pregnancy or miscarriage forum at this stage as I'm sort of in between Confused

Would really appreciate any thoughts on this, if anyone has had a similar experience? Xx

I had a MC earlier this year and when I found out I was pregnant again, I wanted to book an early scan this time. Had an inkling something was wrong at 5 weeks as the clear blue weeks tester only showed 1-2.
At the scan on Sunday, the sonographer couldn't find anything at all. Literally nothing and she spent a lot of time (internal scan) checking everywhere for an ectopic. She asked me about my dates and I'm certain of my last period and the earliest I could have been on Sunday is 5 weeks, if late ovulation. So she asked me to take a pregnancy test again when I got home as she didn't believe I was at this point.

Got home and took a test and it says pregnant 1-2 weeks again. Took one this morning and says the same. So almost impossible that it's too early and not showing up on a scan... As it would have been 'paused' in a 4 week state for like 2 weeks. Scientifically impossible so I've ruled out the hope that it's just not showing up.

Next steps is I'm going to the EPAC tomorrow for scan and bloods. I'm left with questions like:

  • if the pregnancy stopped at 3-4 weeks like the tests said... Why hasn't my body realised at 6 weeks?
  • if ectopic why isn't it showing on the scan?
  • why haven't I had pains or started bleeding?
  • will my body ever realise? (they won't give me surgery or the methotrexate tomorrow if it doesn't appear on the scan)

Any advice is appreciated!

Sorry you are going through this. I had a missed miscarriage a few years ago. I got to 11weeks and started bleeding, the baby had died at 5 weeks. It was horrendously cruel. However I didn't have any of the typical pregnancy symptoms during that time and my gut feeling was something was wrong.

They will do bloods over 48hrs to check if there doubling if there not then they would do another scan as it would al.ost certainly be ectopic at that point they should offer methotrexate rather than surgery due to hcg not doubling so small risk of rupture, not every body bleeds or gets pain or symptoms etc I dodnt I just knew something was up and like ypu my clearblue didnt progress for almost 2 weeks as the hcg rise was so slow st rising so it's going to be a long two weeks for you unfortunately as they will monitor you for 1 to 2 weeks before deciding.

Also the will not see anything on scan unless your 6 weeks or h g levels above 1000 so unless you are 6 weeks it wont show any way and even 1 day out makes the difference I was scanned at 5weeks 5 days and nothing on scan then scanned again at 6 weeks and there the baby was home this all helps

Hi thanks very much for the replies, I really appreciate it.

Just wanted to post an update here in case anyone is searching for similar in the future. We went to the hospital today and can't believe 3 days later after seeing NOTHING on a scan and getting 1-2 weeks still on the clear blue indicator... there's now a 6 week baby and a heartbeat! I'm in total shock and so relieved. Just shows tests and scans are not always accurate and there is some hope Smile

Wow, that's amazing - congratulations! Bit of a rollercoaster for you but what a lovely outcome. Baby must have had some fun hiding at the last scan.

Delbelleber · 18/12/2019 18:58

Wow congratulations 💐

I know this is old @Rachae but I'm clinging to it with hope today.
Thick lining on US but no sac found. Hcg Fri 582 sun 1434. For repeat tomorrow.
I'm in bits and you are giving me some hope.
