Hello I'm 41 and found out at my 13 week scan my baby passed away at 6 weeks, have to wait another week so they can rescan me to make sure it isn't a new pregnancy before they will offer me help to get baby out, feel very upset, just wished they didn't mentioned the possibility it being a new pregnancy as my head wont stop thinking it could be, I know deep down it's not but wishing for a miracle, has anyone been through this and had to wait over 8 weeks for baby to come out, or even went back to find ots a new pregnancy?

I experienced this even the exact same timings and you're right, it's very unlikely it's a new pregnancy but the NHS have very strict guidelines they adhere to.

I would push your Dr to start the process at your next scan as my hospital were obstructive and made me return for a 3rd scan another week later and even tried to make me come back for a 4th another week after that!

The guidelines the NHS use don't really account for women who have had a missed miscarriage that has lasted this length of time and if it happened to me again, I would argue that point as its quite uncommon and so the guidelines should be used flexibly in cases like this.

Thank you for replying I will phone hospital today and try and get it sooner, I'd like for it to be done with as soon as possible, this is my first miscarriage so all new to me, I have 6 kids so should be thankful for that, still hurts but got to get on with it.
