Sex during pregnancy

Help please!! Having a panic Blush I’ve just had sex for the first time since conceiving - I’m now 21 weeks! My worry is we had sex in the missionary position and I’ve now read online that this should be avoided so the blood and oxygen flow to the baby isn’t reduced from the weight of the uterus on the vena cava?!
DH has had to wait 4 months for this so it wasn’t a long session by any means!! And he didn’t put his weight on me at all but I’m now panicking that I’ve done some damage!!

Thanks in advance for your replies Smile xx

If this was a statistically real issue, there would be millions of dead or damaged babies born every year as a result. In my parents day, the missionary (with socks on, lights out) was pretty much as exciting as it got and my mum is one of 14 kids. My own three are now early twenties and sex during pregnancy - including lots of missionary (it was comfy) - was pretty much a must every day. I honestly think you have nothing to worry about and should just carry on as you are.

In fact, for the one article I quickly found regarding your point, u also quickly found lot more stating the opposite with cited sources of research. For example www.verywellfamily.com/sex-positions-for-pregnancy-2759947

Sex is perfectly safe in any position during pregnancy. Of course you have to be a bit more careful the further along you get. And you may even find it gets uncomfortable to dtd in this position as you get bigger so may have to find different positions.

Thanks everyone Smile I knew I could count on you all for a bit of reassurance. I’ll have a happy DH knowing we can carry on as we please Grin xx

It's safe to have sex on your back as you aren't on your back for long. Smile

Sleeping on your back is not recommended though so please try and avoid that. If you wake up and happen to find yourself on your back, don't worry and just find another position. It's starting on your side that's the main thing.
