Hi everyone. Im 18+5, ive just went to the toilet, wiped and there was some really light browny/pinky spotting on the paper. It Worried me sick.

Prior to this about half an hour before hand, I did go to the toilet for a number 2 (sorry, tmi) and really struggled and found it painful, but finally managed and felt much better/relieved after. When i went back for a wee half an hour later, thats when i saw the spotting after wiping (and i deffo wiped the front to double check what passage it was from- again tmi) and got myself worried.

Called a family friend midwife who said it could be burst capillaries, or potentially an infection but to just keep an eye for now and if its light to not worry too much if i have no cramps or tightening pains.

I have no abdominal pain, or cramps. But i have had back ache the past two days, feels more like ive pulled a muscle or twisted it more than anything. Unsure if the constipation/doing a number 2/back ache link to the light bleeding/spotting at all or if they’re all completely unrelated.

Anyone had this? Ive put a liner on my underwear to keep checking and nothing is there. This is my first pregnancy so it’s difficult to ever know whats normal or whats alarming.

Hi!
First of all Congratulations! Second, first time pregnancy is hard and scary and yes everything that you are doing is right the best thing you can do is keep an eye on it.

I think your friend is probably right, it would definitely make sense with you having to strain! Constipation is a horrible part of pregnancy, try and make sure you are always hydrated and eating fruits and this will definitely help. I would say it’s unlikely if you aren’t having any cramps that these are all linked and constipation and back ache are sadly part of pregnancy the further along you get! But carry on doing what you’re doing but if you do start to worry even if there’s no more spotting it’s best to get checked for your own peace of mind!

Hope this helps!

@kimjl57 thanks for the response.

Yeah i think i just need to get some sleep and check again in the morning. So far its stopped and nothing there so im wondering if it was just from straining. I am trying to drink plenty snd have lots of fruits/fiber veg but i think its just taking time to move again. Il stop my worrying for now and get some rest. Thank you! Xx

Lactulose is your friend, sometimes no matter how well you eat in pregnancy constipation is inevitable. Also re the blood of you're worried have a chat with the midwife, she may suggest listening in to baby to put your mind at rest.
