I've been in my current role just under 5 years by the time I go on maternity leave my only concern is I'm a One to One teaching assistant with a child with learning needs so my contract is temporary my jobs is there as long as the child remains in the school, but this is the child last year and will leave for secondary school in July 2020 and I'm going on my leave end of May 2020 so I'm trying to find some help or advise will they pay me maternity pay or just make me redundant as when there is no job available they pay one to ones off but don't really like to but also if they keep me on they will be paying me and also someone else to cover me while I'm off. Has anyone else every been in this situation

Are you an employee?

www.gov.uk/maternity-pay-leave/eligibility - if you are still there at week 25 of pregnancy and have been there more than 26 weeks then you qualify for SMP

If they don't accept your SPA you qualify for Maternity allowance.

Yes you will be entitled- if you have been continually employed for 26 weeks at your qualifying week (15 weeks before your due date) they have to pay you smp and continue to pay it even if your employment isn't continued. You should also be entitled to occupy Mat pay if they pay it (I would be shocked if they say you are not. )
