I think I have a migraine.

I'd call 111. How far gone are you?

babymummytobe · 13/12/2019 13:37

34 weeks. It's really really sore 😢 maybe you're right I should call them. I tried to call the maternity line and no one picks up.

Do you have any other symptoms? Visual disturbance? Swollen hands or feet? Any pain anywhere else?

Babyg1995 · 13/12/2019 13:45

I had this but in early pregnancy was a bad migraine was being sick alot with it too I just kept taking the paracetamol every 4 hours it eventually went away if your really worried I would contact your midwife

pooopypants · 13/12/2019 13:48

Definitely 111. Could be a sign of something else.

babymummytobe · 13/12/2019 13:48

Yesterday I had terrible pain in my kidney area after eating. But right now I just have this SPLITTING headache, since this morning and I've also thrown up.

My feet and hands are a tiny bit swollen, but that's just the way it's been for the last week or so. No blurry vision or anything.

I just tried to pull myself together and get up and it just made it so much worse so now I'm back down and it helps at least.

You need to get checked out. Urgently. I’m not trying to scare you but those symptoms are very similar to mine at the end of my first pregnancy, I felt a little unwell and had slightly swollen hands for a week then things got worse very quickly and I ended up very ill.

PG2018 · 13/12/2019 13:52

Pls phone your midwife

BertrandRussell · 13/12/2019 13:52

You need to get your blood pressure checked urgently. Is there someone who can take you to the maternity clinic or a pharmacy or your GP?

babymummytobe · 13/12/2019 14:00

Called the maternity line, they said it's ' just a headache ' LOOOL

I'm not sure why I'm laughing, it's not funny. I'll take some more paracetamol. If it's still the same in a few hours I'll just go there myself. Either a and e or out of hours GP or something.

Please just go to the hospital. This sounds like pre eclampsia and it is a killer for mothers and babies. You need to be checked and don't take no for an answer. Its very important. If I wasn't insistent both me and my son would have died

Mammyofasuperbaby · 13/12/2019 14:03

Don't wait, just go now

babymummytobe · 13/12/2019 14:05

@Mammyofasuperbaby where shall I go ? GP or a and e ? Basically anyone that can check my blood pressure ?

OP posts:
Mammyofasuperbaby · 13/12/2019 14:11

I'd go to a and e if the drs or urgent care center won't see you immediately. They need to check your bp plus your urine for protein.
I was 32 weeks when it started and I felt just like you. 111 and midwife wasn't bothered but I demanded to be seen and was rushed to hospital once the Dr saw my bp. My son was born 3 days later and is a happy 3 year old now so its not all bad but it is very important

babymummytobe · 13/12/2019 14:15

OK thank you for your advice. I might just walk into the Fetal assessment unit at my hospital. Worth a shot as well.

OP posts:
Mammyofasuperbaby · 13/12/2019 14:20

That's a good idea. Fingers crossed that it is just a stubborn headache. Let us know how you get on. Better safe than sorry

Sweetandawfulsour · 13/12/2019 14:20

@babymummytobe please get checked out! For peace of mind more than anything. Pop down to your A&E or fetal assessment ASAP. I had all the preeclampsia signs but downplayed it. It’s simply not worth the risk. Hope all is well and you feel better soon

babymummytobe · 13/12/2019 14:24

Thank you guys ! I really appreciate it. And yeah absolutely will get checked for peace of mind, even if the midwife fobbed me off...

The GP will see me in a couple of hours. That's also much easier than me having to mission it to the hospital in my current condition. I hope a few hours won't make a huge difference 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the advice ! It's always best to be safe. Doesn't take much to check BP and urine does it.

Hello ladies. I just wanted to give a quick update. I'm so glad I went to the GP. All is fine. Blood pressure fine and urine fine. I'm just having a bad migraine. However, it was the right thing to do and I would urge anyone to do the same, should they experience these symptoms.

Thanks again !

Glad to hear that OP

Mammyofasuperbaby · 13/12/2019 21:07

Brilliant, I'm glad to hear everything is fine. Its always better to be safe than sorry and never doubt yourself. Just get checked. Good luck for the last few weeks of pregnancy and I hope your migraine goes soon

babymummytobe · 13/12/2019 21:39

@Mammyofasuperbaby thanks so much for the well wishes. I feel much better this evening. What a scary situation you must have been in when this happened to you, but I'm so glad all worked out well and you also pushed for answers. Hopefully I won't get another migraine. But if I do, I will just go straight to be seen and have blood pressure and urine checked !
