Sweep and midwife appt dates

Any advice or wisdom welcome please!

I'm 40 weeks today, first time mum, no show or waters breaking as of yet, annoyingly.

The way that my midwife appointments have landed means that my next appt isn't until next Weds (when I'll be 40+6) and my previous one was when I was 38+6.

I haven't been offered a sweep (or booked in). As far as I'm aware, Derby NHS will offer/suggest induction at 41+3 (so 10 days over) which is obviously only 4 days after my next midwife appointment. I'm hoping something will have happened by then of course!!

Does anyone know whether I can ask for a sweep before my next midwife appt, and if so who I'd need to ask? The PAU at the hospital or the community midwife team? Or whether I should just be able to turn up next week with the midwife and ask for a sweep there and then?

Thanks!
Laura

Hey I'm 39+6 today so we're both hoping for a baby soon! My midwife has said she'll do a sweep at my 40 week appointment which for me falls at 40+3 so if I were you I'd contact her ahead of the appointment and ask if she can do one when you go.

Good luck, you never know you may not make your appointment as you've had a baby! I'm hoping I do!! Xx

I agree with pp contact your midwife and ask if you can have it done at your next appointment( or even if you can be seen before next week) Im not too sure if she would do it if you only ask when your there she may need a bit of notice (depending on other appointments she has that day?) x

@Inthesky42 Ah so close! Good luck to you too!

@Boymummy3 Sounds good and makes sense, thanks!

I'll give them a call tomorrow then to try and get something sorted for next week and then cross all fingers and toes that I don't actually make it that far 😊
