Hello everyone!! I've literally just finished a course of antibiotics a few days ago for a UTI I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant and I'm sure I have another one I called my doctors and they are saying they can't fit me in! I'm literally going out of my mind as I'm so uncomfortable I was wondering if anyone had any advice what I should do thank you

Ring your midwife she should be able to test your urine for you

Em8725 · 12/12/2019 14:30

My doctors used to take a sample and dip it, without an appointment. Even now if I get a UTI (rare now thankfully) they’ll dip it without seeing me, and write a prescription if necessary. Can you phone them and ask if they’ll do that for you? If not, as PP says, your midwife should be able to help.

Oh Op I suffered with this constantly during pregnancy- make sure they dont give you nitrofurotoin (unsafe for 2nd trimester) Amoxicillin is safe. As for staying comfortable, luke warm baths worked for me until antibiotics kicked in, paracetamol, lots of water (not cranberry juice, doesn't work)!!! Uncomfortable as it is try not to wee or a bit after you've necked a load of water, take a bath after, then wee.
Feel for you!!

I've tried to call my midwife no answer but I left a message my GP said they won't be able to fit me in til the 27th!! They said I have to ring at 8:00 tomorrow morning for a appointment so I'm going to do that first thing is it normally to keep getting UTI's this is my third pregnancy and I didn't have even one with my other two thank you everyone for your replies

I have had this during this pregnancy the exact same thing but I just rang my docs explained I had another uti and that I needed another course of antibiotics and they just prescribed them to me as with being pregnant they should see you straight away or 0rescribe without seeing u if your symptoms suggest you have uti xx I to had none in my last pregnancy but had about 6 this pregnancy and am only 21 weeks

Boymummy3 · 12/12/2019 14:49

I had them constant throughout my 1st pregnancy. It was so annoying and uncomfortable.

Do you have a walk-in-centre at any hospitals near you? It's a pain to have to wait especially sometimes when it can be 4-5 hours wait! But at least you'll be seen and treated that day

Laurenp1995 · 12/12/2019 14:56

My doctors literally won't do this I explained to them why and she told me just call tomorrow I've called my local walk in centre and they don't see pregnant women! Feeling a bit like I may have to suffer tonight and call first thing tomorrow!!!! Thank you everyone for reassuring me I'm glad to know it's not just me!

You cant phone for a telephone appointment?? I did the same as the PP, just called, explained it was the same thing, prescribed antibiotics- crazy you cant do that!?
Can you explain to the receptionist it's just for antibiotics, your pregnant with recurrent uti's (it's quite common, I didnt suffer either with Ds1 or Ds2, but constantly with Dd1 and 2, just one of those things!)
It is quite important to get treated asap tho

Laurenp1995 · 12/12/2019 16:06

Ooo no I did ask but apprently they don't do them? I'm new to the area so don't know this doctors too well! I called and explained and they just said no sorry haven't got anything I'm going to try calling first thing tomorrow hopefully they can fit me in!

That’s ridiculous
I’ve had 4 UTIs this pregnancy and am now on a daily low dosage of anti biotics and I didn’t need an appt for any of the 4 previous bouts I’d had. I just needed a call back and to drop a sample in

Laurenp1995 · 13/12/2019 07:21

@Comps83 I know my doctors are useless! I'm in the process of trying to find a different one in my area to change too luckily I got to see someone at the hospital last night as the pain in my back started to get really bad and not have some more antibiotics thank goodness! Xx
