When does nesting kick in?

Just that really, my house is like a secret shit tip - tidy and clean enough to the untrained eye but everything is shoved in cupboards/drawers etc so it's "out of sight, out of mind" because pregnancy has floored me and I have neither the time nor the inclination to do a full deep clean /declutter.

I'm 29 weeks pregnant now and just curious to know when everyone started to get their nesting instinct and have an overwhelming urge to gut the house?

Also, if anyone is nesting right now and has finished with their own house......Wink

I'd also like to know! 33 weeks pregnant and it hasn't kicked in! Would quite like it to

Samantha1712xx · 10/12/2019 14:07

I’m 39 weeks and still haven’t had it 😂

Pinkflipflop85 · 10/12/2019 14:14

The day before labour started (both pregnancies)

Dinosauraddict · 10/12/2019 14:15

I'm 27 weeks and it kicked in a couple weeks ago. To the point that the house now has to be 'perfect' and 'finished' and I'm frantically getting in tradespeople like carpenters and landscape gardeners to make it 'done'. This nesting malarkey is going to cost me a fortune!!

Anoisagusaris · 10/12/2019 14:16

My eldest is 11 and I’m still waiting.

Boymummy3 · 10/12/2019 14:16

'nesting' for me was a few weeks ago I got the sudden urge to literally start bleaching everything down to cleaning plug sockets /skirting boards/doors. (I genuinely don't do this one a weekly basis) Everytime I went the shop (daily) I was buying more cleaning products. I was like a duracell bunny always on the go even though I was absolutely knackered at the same time.. It wore off when I hit 31 weeks I've been drained since I'm 33+2 and I keep looking at the house thinking it's a tip but literally ain't got no willpower to even get it done. Even down to ironing the kids uniform I normally do it all on a Sunday and now I'm doing it daily because I just cba stood there for half hour getting it all done 🙈

@Anoisagusaris Grin
I was just about to post that mine is nearly 10 and it hasn't kicked in yet.
So, I've at least another year to go.

enchantedspleen · 10/12/2019 16:05

18 weeks checking in! Mine seems to be manifesting in sorting out paperwork.
Shame about the ironing pile!

Pawsecco · 10/12/2019 16:27

29 weeks and beginning to kick in although I think knowing that I'll be off for a couple of weeks over Christmas is what is driving it

isupposeitsverynice · 10/12/2019 16:34

yeah hate to ruin it for you all but my kids are nearly 13 and 7 now and my house is worse than ever. sorry

lifeisgoodagain · 10/12/2019 16:42

Never, it's a myth!

anitagreen · 10/12/2019 18:39

34 weeks I'm now 36 and it's getting worse I'm doing the toilet about 4 times a day I'm doing the bathroom twice a day just to smell the flash. I feel different though like labour is near

daisydalrymple · 10/12/2019 18:44

The only nesting I got the urge to do was on the sofa with a blanket, good book and chocolates.

sandytoes84 · 10/12/2019 19:00

35 weeks and it’s started in the last week, but I’m about to finish work so have quite a long break before due date - I’m planning to sort every bit of the house when I’m off.

Mylittlerainbow · 10/12/2019 22:39

Oh no, maybe it will never happen and my house will be constantly full of crap Sad at least there's still time for it to kick in if it's going to...

Never.

Jesskir89 · 10/12/2019 22:44

Op I'm almost 26 weeks and to make it easier as we've had to clear out our spare room for baby I've literally been decluttering a draw at a time and have found this helps. Cleaning part I'm ocd anyway so I'm always nesting on that part, it's not good it's very annoying

confusedrn · 10/12/2019 22:46

For me nesting manifested itself in an unexpected way. Didn't get any better at tidying per se but I started to bake bread from scratch. So weird!! Oh and this kicked in at 38 weeks. My son was born at 42 + 1 so my DH and DD had 4 weeks of hand baked bread. 😂

Dyra · 10/12/2019 23:46

About 8 weeks after birth.

maceratedstrawberries · 11/12/2019 18:41

I am 20 weeks and nesting like a mad woman... 😂

wondering7777 · 11/12/2019 22:00

I’m 19 weeks and on a mission to get my messy house sorted and organised before the baby arrives. There’s a million and one things to do - feel like I will never get there Sad
