Hi, I think I'm being a bit nurotic (sp?) but the baby hasn't moved very much at all today.

I got a bit worried earlier on this morning as I hadn't felt baby for about 3 hours, but I had a cold drink of water and sat in a quite spare office at work and I felt baby move.
Baby has stopped moving again and it must be about 2 hours or so since I last felt baby, I have just done the same as before but got nothing this time.

My tummy is a bit sore and I am a bit constipated because of the iron tablets that the doctor has put me on, sorry TMI

I am 28+3 today. I think the reason I am worrying is because usualy the baby doesn't stop moving, baby is constantly on the go and I always seem to have movements and kicks. baby was moving as normal yesterday.

Please re assure me that it is ok and I am just being a worrying mass of hormones.

I'm sure this is OK. However you are worried so call the hospital where you are booked in for advice.

A similar thing happened to me at 26 weeks. For about 24 hours he moved noticeably less than previously. They asked me to go in and put a monitor on him for about an hour. All was fine and needless to say as soon as the monitor was on he went mad and wriggled like crazy! They were lovely and reassuring though - said they would rather see a helathy woman in 10 or more times during her pregnancy than one who had left it too late.

I'm sure your lo is fine - it could be that he / she has changed position which is why you can't feel the movements as easily. But you would never forgive yourself if there was something wrong. And at 28 weeks your baby would have a fighting chance if there was a problem that necessitated early delivery so I seriously think its worth checking out. The worst that happens if everything is fine is you just feel a bit more neurotic! The worst that happens if you don't get checked and its not fine doesn't bear thinking about. Give them a call honey and good luck.

Agree with fio that not moving for 2-3 hours is normal but the point is you have noticed things to be different than they have been before which is another matter.

Hope I haven't worried you - just think its always worth asking advice from professionals who see problems with pregnancy all the time rather than worrying yourself sick

Thanks Fio, I didn't think about that, I have been really busy at work today, so maybe baby has been moving.

Hi Alicet, thanks for your advice, I may just keep an eye on it and see if the movements come back. If I haven't felt anything in a couple of hours I will ring the ward and see what they say.

can i suggest that if this is a current worry about the baby then why not invest in a sonicaid from argos???, they are about £25-£30 and you strap it to ur bump and can hear babys heartbeat through a pair of earphones....and you get leads with it so u can record. It is normal for baby to slow down as its a tight squeeze in there...have u got a kick chart...if not just make one it suggests u should feel baby move ten times a day

GoodGollyMissMolly · 23/08/2007 13:19

Fawkeoff, I bought one of those from mothercare, but I can never hear the babys HB with it so TBH I've stoped trying to use it. I was wondering the other day if I needed to use that gel that the MW's use when listed to babys HB????

I dont know, I'm probably using it wrong.

no u dont need the gel...it might be faulty so if you have the reciept take it back.what i did was lay it on my chest to hear my heartbeat first, then i just satdown for a good 20 minutes and found a much quicker heartbeat.

GoodGollyMissMolly · 23/08/2007 13:29

Good idea Fawkeoff, I'll try that when I get home tonight, I still have the receipt so if it turns out to be faulty I'll take it back.

Thank You.
