Hi ladies
Just wanting to moan with others in my situation!
Full of cold - can barely get out of bed but babys due to arrive Friday. So scared as don't know how I'd have the energy to give birth if she came today!
Anyone else in this situation? What you doing to help get over it quickly as there's not much we can take!

Yes me.. I’ve been struck with a UTI and now a cold. Don’t really know what to suggest as I’m a first time mom and my due date is Monday. I don’t really feel like there’s a lot I can do. It worried me a bit this morning as I don’t want to pass it on if the baby is born. I’ll be following your thread.

@Peachee its miserable isn't it! Im a FTM too and worried i will pass it on too.
Also desperate not to pass it onto my OH so that at least one of us is strong for when baby arrives!

Yes me! I'm overdue and full of a cold, I feel rotten and it just seems to be getting worse every day. Such bad timing isn't it

Pambo81 · 10/12/2019 16:29

@stripes416 oh no! When were you due?

@Pambo81 I was due at weekend so it's not too much over but definitely enough. Are you off work now or still working? Try and get as much rest as possible. I imagine when you're in labour everything else will take over and you won't even be giving it a second thought. Just try and keep as hydrated as possible too and hopefully you'll start feeling better before Friday

Im not as far along, but a few things that helped a recent cold:

  1. bath twice a day - helps ease joints and relax
  2. run shower super hot, shower door open and sit in bathroom with door closed for 15 mins so room gets very steamy. Helps clear sinuses
  3. hot water, with lemon and honey - helps soothe throat, and hydrates
  4. chicken and rice - bland, but gives energy to start moving
  5. a walk. seems counter-intuitive, but I feel the cold air kind of blows germs away, and gives a bit more energy. make it a short walk, and back home to follow steps 1-4.

@stripes416 have they mentioned a sweep or anything yet? Fingers crossed you get over it before baby is here! Yeah I'm off work thankfully so yep just plenty of resting!

@Caspianberg thanks for the tips - will give them a go! I especially like the shower steam room idea!

@Peachee being in labour with a UTI is my worst nightmare. Drink LOTS of water and I would hope you’ve been to the doctors for some antibiotics

For everyone - I’m a second time mum, rest assured any illness you have will be cleared out of your system when you’re ready to give birth, trust your body it looks after you!

stripes416 · 11/12/2019 12:26

@Pambo81 no mention of anything so just seeing how it goes. Good that you can get plenty of rest. I can never understand how people manage to work right up until their due date

Peachee · 11/12/2019 13:38

@Extradotcom yes it is miserable. The hospital found out on Saturday as I went into triage due to swelling and bump pain. I’ve got some antibiotics resting and drinking lots. Thankyou for caring xxx
