Paternity leave, help please!

Husband has forgotten to submit a request for paternity leave. He didn't even tell his work my due date. I'm due 31/12/2019. Does anyone know if there is any way around this? Or will he just have to have two weeks unpaid/take as holiday/not have any paternity leave at all? Trying not to be cross with him but it's incredibly hard. Ffs.

Does he get fully paid paternity? If not, holiday would be the better option anyway. Does he meet all of the other criteria? His employer could chose to overlook it but technically he has missed the deadline.

It's just statutory paternity so nowhere near full pay, but something is better than nothing. He meets all the requirements for it but has just epically missed the boat notice wise. I guess taking it unpaid or pleading with his employer are his only options really :(

He needs to speak to them asap and see if they're willing to approve it. Remember that paternity leave doesn't have to be taken straight after birth. So if they can't authorise it for January, maybe they would agree for him to take two weeks off at a later date. He needs to finish it 56 days after you give birth. Not ideal but better than nothing.
