Strong pains at 4 weeks pregnant

Hi, I’m just over 4 weeks pregnant and have been having strong cramps around once a day lasting for about 5-10 mins for the past week. They come on gradually in my lower stomach and make me feel nauseous and like I’m about to come on my period. I’ll go to the toilet expecting to start bleeding but nothing comes and then it passes. Other than this I’ve had a bit of mild cramping and back pain, plus sore boobs, which is all normal it’s just the strong pains that are worrying me. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hey OP congrats Flowers I had strong period pain cramps, was ever so worried as online it says “moderate cramps” but mine were very painful. I’m at 26 weeks now so everything was fine, just try not to drive yourself mad reading things on the internet like I did! Also I found they stopped around 7 weeks

I know what you mean! It's so scary..

Do you have PCOS? I've had the cramps along with bleeding (getting lighter) however the doctor has said whilst pregnant a new cyst has grown measuring just short of 4cm which is causing the cramps. Just a thought - but it's all ok, they're harmless xx

I had bad cramps the day I tested positive with my 2nd pregnancy I thought I was going to have the worst period ever but never did. They say cramps can be normal if not accompanied by bleeding. Some women also get cramps around the time they would be due their period during pregnancy

Thank you for your comments.
Summershine2204 I don’t have PCOS as far as I’m aware. It’s just how painful these cramps are that are making me worry as they are really strong Definitely not mild like the internet says and making me feel very sick for the time that they last. Once it’s past it almost as if it hasn’t happened. I’ve had no bleeding so far.

Hello OP I had/have awfully painful cramps and it was due to an enlarged corpus luteum (where the egg is released from on ovulation), which subsequently ruptured - ouch!
No bearing on the pregnancy, embryo appears to be developing as expected - I’m 7 weeks tomorrow and started having cramps at 5 weeks. No history of PCOS

Hi OP, Im 5+3 and have been experiencing period pains too the last few days! This morning I had it particularly badly, it made my heart rate increase and i couldnt bear to lie still. Do you get the ache in your thighs too? I too have only had occasional mild backpain. No sore boobs, just sensitive nips. I am getting a bit worried about it too, and my appointment with the midwife isnt until dec 19th :(

I'm 7+4 and have had mild to strong cramps since my missed period at week 4. Like yours, painful and causing me to feel sick, have had to rush to the toilet many times expecting to see blood but there's none. They're starting to die down for me now but still getting them. I've booked a private early scan for Tues to ease my anxiety (at least for now).

Hi, I knew I was pregnant before tests etc because I got such awful period style cramps, which I never get. They were so bad I was worried it was an ectopic so went to get checked at a&e at 5 weeks. All is fine I'm now 9 weeks & never really found a cause for the pain, the dr said sometimes you can get unlucky and just hurt. It has eased of abit now x
