Good evening all! I could do with some advice as I am really freaking out. I am currently away Friday to Monday and I’ve forgotten to pack my aspirin! I’ve taken it daily since being 12 weeks as I have low papp-a. I haven’t been able to find any 75mg and my DP picked up 300mg.. would it be okay to not take it till Monday when I am home? I am currently 29+5, I am 30 weeks on Monday

Can you take 1/4 or 1/2 a 300 mg tablet? Nice guidelines for pre-eclampsia say to take 75-150 mg/day.

LH1987 · 07/12/2019 19:14

I'd cut the tablet in four as the app says. Your dose wouldn't be exact but much closer to the correct amount Smile

LBOCS2 · 07/12/2019 19:15

Chemists also have it OTC if you go in and ask them. I spoke to the pharmacist when I forgot mine and they sold them to me.

Mammabee20 · 07/12/2019 19:17

I just don’t want to risk not taking it at all.. if I split a tablet in half as at least that is 150mg and it is still some aspirin in my system.. my low papp-a was only slightly low but with me being 30 weeks nearly I don’t want to take any risks at all

I wouldn't stress, I have forgotten some days to take my aspirin for low Papp-A and my baby is measuring big. Please do not stress yourself. Just do what you can with what you've got.

jpaws · 07/12/2019 19:41

I'd 1/4 or 1/2 the 300 if you cant get any. I wasnt allowed any OTC in the chemist as it's not licensed for pregnant or breastfeeding women so you would need a prescription.

Mammabee20 · 07/12/2019 20:02

I can buy it over the counter and in supermarkets and it’s easier because on prescription in my area, they only give you a months supply.. where as OTC they can give me two-three months in one go. They said no to giving me it on prescription as it is cheap enough over the counter

I'd personally phone midwife to ask them tbh she may say it ok to cut up the 300 tablet or may say it's OK to miss a couple but I think you should get professional advice x

Mammabee20 · 07/12/2019 20:22

I did speak to the birth centre at my local hospital and someone told me it would be okay to miss a couple of days but she didn’t ask about my circumstances or how many weeks I am. I didn’t even clarify if she was a midwife or anything

I would take their word for it but I have already been signed off work for anxiety with this pregnancy so I don’t feel comfortable even taking their word for it :( x

baby aspirin is usually available everywhere in a supermarket / chemist. Just go to your local tesco / boots etc and ask them for it. Or ask your hotel concierge to get you some - most will for a small fee.

Alderaan · 07/12/2019 20:37

I forget to take my aspirin all the time. I too had low Papp-A but baby is measuring massive

GrumpyHoonMain · 07/12/2019 20:39

Aspirin for low papp a is for the placenta. A big baby with placental insufficiency can be a huge problem which is why it’s important not to miss your aspirin dose like the pp.

twoturtledove · 07/12/2019 22:44

@GrumpyHoonMain I've missed it 3 times since the start of my pregnancy (I am now 29 weeks). My baby is a healthy size as I am tall, as is my partner. My point was that I have forgotten a couple of days and baby is healthy and not small as they predicted.

GrumpyHoonMain · 08/12/2019 00:28

@twoturtledove - I was talking more about Alderaan.

twoturtledove · 08/12/2019 00:29

@GrumpyHoonMain phew! Thought I had given bad advice there 😣
