Hi, this is my first pregnancy so I don’t really know what to expect or what’s going on, but I’m 37 weeks pregnant and needing a wee often, I’ll have one then I’ll feel the urge to wee again, just want to know is this normal or should I do something, I have no pain only when I need to go.

Welcome to the last few weeks of pregnancy!

Kittykat93 · 06/12/2019 20:38

Totally normal. I used to get up about 6 times in the night for a wee from about 5 months pregnant! Nightmare

Watto1 · 06/12/2019 20:39

Totally normal! Baby is squishing everything, including your bladder. I was back and forth to the bathroom so many times in the last few weeks of my pregnancies.

pottypotamus · 06/12/2019 20:39

Does it help if you lean forward during your wee to increase pressure to get out as much we as possible. I've heard that can help you wee more at a time reducing the number of trip to the loo you need to make.

Watto1 · 06/12/2019 20:43

Yes, I used to bend forward and from side to side after a wee. I’d forgotten that! A little more would come out. Still up a few times in the night though.

BikeRunSki · 06/12/2019 20:46

Normal!

Shannon22 · 06/12/2019 21:33

Thankyou all for your help, I will try the leaning forward, it’s just so nerve racking when I don’t know what’s going on.

Totally feel you!
I often get the urge, then it goes away once baby moves position or I move about. The worst one is the sudden, very sharp and obvious couple of seconds, 'I must wee IMMEDIATELY' squash of the bladder, can't say I'm enjoying that 😂

gumdrop2 · 06/12/2019 23:05

It can also be a sign of a urine infection I recently had one didn't have any symptoms other than constantly needing a wee and then after a few days it started to hurt

RollOnNextYear · 07/12/2019 01:53

Yep had this from 24 weeks. I can go. 5.min later feel desperate again.. And barely anything comes out tmi.
Other times. I think on I best try and go and I feel like I could pee for England.

Now 33 w and got in bed 2 hours ago. Been 4 times already

1300cakes · 07/12/2019 10:05

You've only had this from 37 weeks? Lucky thing! I've had it since 8-9 weeks. It's horrible though isn't it.

LittleDoveLove · 07/12/2019 15:54

I used to panic about getting the train home because I was worried I would need a wee I was going loads! X

annlee3817 · 07/12/2019 18:00

Midwife told me to go for a wee, then when finished stand up have a little wiggle and sit down and try again. Because of the baby squishing everything wee can sit in little stagnant pools when the bladder isn't emptied properly and can cause infection. It was something like that anyway, happy to be corrected lol

loutypips · 07/12/2019 18:02

Try squatting rather than sitting. Also, maybe get checked for a uti if it continues or starts stinging.

NoGuarantee · 07/12/2019 18:07

Always remain on the loo for a few mins after the wee has finished. The final 'secret wee' will come out a few mins later and it'll save you going again very soon after.

Shannon22 · 07/12/2019 21:28

I’ll try squatting, it comes and goes I don’t have the urge to need it constantly every day just on some days, I’ll keep an eye on it but so far I’ve had no stinging or pain when going toilet.

Yep! I’ve had it all the way through. I’m sure I’m wearing the carpet through in work between my desk and the toilets! Half the time I can’t tell if it’s habit or I actually need to go!
