Hi! I'm sorry if it's not the place to post this as i know this is a happy place of pregnant mommies.
If that is the case comment on thread and I'll delete it but this will help other women who are ttc in lifting their mood up.

Im going through a mc and so devastated. I've been called on Monday (after a 12 week scan which showed heartbeat uncertain and growth of 6 weeks) for a follow up scan to check and then to choose which option to go forward with.

I've a daughter and this is my first mc. I'm thinking to for d&c but then confused of any risks.
Any mommies or expectant mommies who can share their experiences and success stories please. Itll help all those who are going through this terrible time.

Thank you 💗

@Bee1710 the big clot could have been the sac. Now you're bleeding, I'd expect to bleed for a good week before it all stops.

Bee1710 · 14/12/2019 18:20

@rubyroost yes i am but it has reduced much now.. It's not heavy now

Bee1710 · 14/12/2019 18:37

It is quite light as compared to before but its still there.

I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks before my successful pregnancy with my first daughter. I then had another miscarriage at 9 weeks earlier this year and I am currently 29 weeks pregnant with a baby that is developing well. Pregnancy after miscarriage can be daunting - for me I have really wanted to be out of hospital (after having such bad memories there). I'm booked with the homebirth team and that feels like such a good decision for me. I found my miscarriage physically and emotionally devastating, but from a medical perspective there are no particular risks associated. Once I was pregnant again I was back in the same system as always and considered a low risk pregnancy.

Bee1710 · 14/12/2019 20:38

@londonkate thank you so much for sharing. Many many congratulations xx
How long after mc did u have your periods and was the next cycle the same length as your pre pregnant cycle?
Also how long did it take you to conceive?

Whattodoabout · 14/12/2019 22:14

I’m so sorry for your loss Flowers. I had two missed miscarriages in a row both discovered at the 12 week scan, I had seen the heartbeat twice with the second one so it was doubly cruel. I then had my DS who is 13 months old and very healthy Smile.

I waited one cycle before trying again after each MC purely to help date the next pregnancy. All the best with the future OP.

LondonKate · 14/12/2019 22:15

@Bee1710 - after both miscarriages my next cycle was a bit longer than usual. The pregnancy hormones have to become undetectable for the next cycle to start. Both times for me I got my next period 5-6 weeks after the start of my miscarriage. It is perfectly possible to become pregnant before you ever have that first period, so for example a straight couple not using contraception may find they conceive again before another period. But I'm gay and so we were using donor sperm and the clinic advised us to wait until after a normal period to make timings easier. After my first miscarriage we waited two cycles (Christmas got in the way) and then I conceived after two attempts. After the first extended cycle my periods were exactly like normal. After my second miscarriage I only waited for 1 period and then conceived on the first try - so I don't know if my periods returned to normal because i only had one.

Bee1710 · 14/12/2019 22:26

@whattodoabout so sorry to hear that you're right that's terrifying. So happy you then have a baby xx..

Did your period cycle return to normal once period started and how long did it take to conceive?

OP posts:
Bee1710 · 14/12/2019 22:27

@londonkate thank you for sharing. Congrats again xx
I hope mine is normal soon

Rubyroost · 16/12/2019 16:19

@Bee1710 how did you get on today? All okay?

Bee1710 · 16/12/2019 18:49

@rubyroost hi! I went to epu on Sunday and got to know that some retained tissue is there, enough for a surgery. Then last night I passed some more clots one that was huge 4-5 inch. So I called epu again before surgery that this happened. So the consultant talked to me. Didn't take a scan as he said that we will always find sth there that's human body but as your body has taken 90% out and even more so we don't think this surgery is much recommended for you you can go for it but it'll have more risks than benefits in your case.
So they asked me to have a pill or leave it to happen naturally. So I've chosen the latter. They said in 2 weeks the bleeding should stop if not then theyll scan and see. Hope it resolves now. Everything has been so dramatic.

I had two miscarriages in a row before my first. One missed miscarriage, one chemical pregnancy. I had three beautiful babies after that x

peasando · 16/12/2019 19:25

There's always hope. I had 11 miscarriages before having my son (now nearly three years old). When we decided to TTC DC2 I was terrified about going through it all again but got pregnant on the second month of trying and our beautiful daughter was born last week.

I'm now going to quit while I'm ahead 😄 but I'm so glad I didn't give up before my babies arrived, even though I nearly did so many times.

Sending everyone going through this all the love and strength in the world.

Rubyroost · 16/12/2019 19:37

@Bee1710 it will be over soon though. I had a missed miscarriage and miscarried naturally. They booked me in for scan and was told there was retained tissue there when there wasn't. I said I wanted to try to continue miscarrying naturally, went back a week (or two- can't remember now) later to be told retained tissue still there (it wasn't) so I opted for pill. Had pill and horrendous contractions and had to take time off work. Thi k the contractions cont'd as there was nothing there to expel. I rang epu 5 days after taking pill and said I'd like a scan, they refused at first and then when I said I was going private they said I could come in. Finally did internal scan, instead of external scan and lo and behold nothing was there. Funny thing is when I went in for the pessary to kicn start things I asked if it would be possible to ovulate whilst hanging teatined products, as I thought i was ovulating-the nurse said no. Turns out I was ovulating. So I went for three weeks believing I still hadn't miscarried, it was psychologically distressing as I just wanted things over to start to recover emotionally. I understand how you're feeling, let's hope it'll be over soon x

Bee1710 · 16/12/2019 20:25

@rubyroost thank you! That's quite bad that they didnt can properly or couldn't identify that you had passed everything ! Im still passing some clots so i know my body is doing sth. I just hope it expels and after 2 weeks when they call to ask I'm perfectly fine.

Also did you take preconception tablets or anything after miscarriage? I was taking pregnacare while pregnant and as im not anymore don't know which vitamins to take or just folic acid?
Also i know you conceived before your period started I'm thinking to wait for 1 period to come as Dr suggested. I'm just wondering if cycles are a bit upset still id be ovulating or not?

OP posts:
Bee1710 · 16/12/2019 20:27

@peasando that's so good to hear you conceived and have your 2 children 💗
So sorry what you had to go through before. It is disturbing!
When you conceived dc2 were you taking any preconception tablets or anything you did different in your diet ??

OP posts:
Rubyroost · 16/12/2019 21:35

@Bee1710 sounds like a wise idea, I conceived before my period, but that was a pretty short and early miscarriage, rather than a missed miscarriage. I took folic acid and vit d only. But there's no reason not to get preconception tablets.

peasando · 17/12/2019 16:15

@bee1710 no I didn't take any preconception tablets or anything, just folic acid. One of the things I think helped with both of my successful pregnancies was taking progesterone supplements (prescribed by consultant) from as early as possible, so it might be worth asking about that?

Goldenmother · 17/12/2019 23:28

I had a miscarriage 7 years ago my 3rd pregnancy I become a little obsessed with proving to myself I could go on and have another child I tried for a year but nothing happen and I also got diagnosed with PCOS and decided to give up I had accepted I couldn't have any more children and was very lucky to have 2 healthy children already that was until 7 years later I got the biggest shock on my life to discover I'm not expected I'm sure when you try again you won't take as long as me but it just proved what is meant to be will be regardless of what we think

Jomum2020 · 18/12/2019 06:54

Hi OP, very sorry to hear about your loss.

I had a mc 2 months ago... last day of my honeymoon (horrible timing but I guess there’s never a good time!) started with light brown discharge and I instantly had a gut feeling things were going wrong! Sure enough 48 hours once we were back at home heavy bleeding started and EPU confirmed a mc. I was like you and waited for it all to happen naturally.

I have now found out I am pregnant again, 5 weeks and even though I am really pleased it’s a very worrying time. I have been testing every day, I know it won’t change the outcome but I’m trying to have some sort of control...! Scared myself silly as yesterday afternoon I did another clear blue dating test which still said 1-2 weeks.... coupled with some light cramps and back pain I convinced myself the pregnancy isn’t progressing and spent the evening sobbing!
This morning I still have light cramps but no bleeding so as other posters have said I’m going to try and take each day as it comes.... I know light cramping can be normal it’s just so scary! Every time I go to the toilet I expect to see blood.

I’m sending you positive thoughts to get through this tough time!

Bee1710 · 18/12/2019 09:13

@Rubyroost thank you. I'll take folic acid I suppose.

@peasando thank you. I'll see if I can get hold of it too.

@Goldenmother you are expecting now? Thank you for sending positive vibes xx

@Jomum2020
Sorry for your loss, that's hurting! But many many congratulations on your new pregnancy. Please I know its easier said than done but don't take stress and pls dont check with the monitor. When i was discussing with the nurses that I have to take hpt and it has to come negative she specifically said that she hates the ones with weeks as they are not accurate. Every woman has different hormones levels. So pls don't check that. And if you are 5 weeks pregnant it ill show 1-2 weeks as it shows after conception. So you are absolutely fine. Did you take any preconception tablets? Also you waited for one period cycle ttc? And I'm still bleeding and passing some clots have been told this is normal. How long did it take your bleeding to stop. I'm just worried that it's all passed now.

OP posts:
Jomum2020 · 18/12/2019 15:25

@Bee1710 I’m taking pregnicare plus.
I didn’t really wait and cycle, we did continue to try but just nothing happened last month, like you I have heard lots of lucky people manage to conceive without even getting a period!
I think I bled for 3/4 weeks. After the clots stopped it was probably another week and then went to brown discharge, I started using opks at that point and ovulated 4 days later. Sadly these things can’t be rushed but it sounds like everything is finishing up for you now. Will you use opks? How are you feeling today?

Bee1710 · 18/12/2019 16:41

@Jomum2020 I have much less bleeding than yday. For you bleeding stopped and then you had brown discharge that marked the end or you were having spotting and then the brown discharge? Also ive never used opks but was thinking this time. How was your first period?
Did you ovulate the right time as per your period cycles as you used opks so u may know.
And you're also lucky you conceived before your second cycle Flowers

OP posts:
Jomum2020 · 19/12/2019 08:24

I agree I’m very lucky, specially when you read on here the struggles a lot of people have! Just hoping this little one sticks in there!

So even though it was recently I must be blocking it from my mind as I can’t remember exactly but I think I had spotting then brown discharge.

I ovulated quicker than usual after my first period after the mc. I think I ovulated around cd 10 and I’m usually around cd 18. It came on very fast too. I usually have lots of warning signs and I can see the LH building up on the sticks but I had a totally negative test. Then in the evening I suddenly noticed loads of cm so I tested and it was positive!! So feeling pretty lucky that I caught it.

Bee1710 · 19/12/2019 10:59

@Jomum2020 oh okay. So that means that the cycle is really up and down. Was your first period heavy or just normal? Cs they say it's heavier. I'm really sorry you are pregnant and I'm asking you these questions. Just so that i dont miss my signs too xx
