BFP – what now?

I've been getting positives on FRER for the past few days and this morning confirmed it with a BFP on a digi. I can't actually believe this is happening after so long ttc and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do now.

The BFP is from a FET, I'm currently 8dp5dt/13dpo and my official test day (to go in for a blood test) is next Wednesday 11th December. It says on the HNS website that 'you should see a midwife or GP as soon as you find out you're pregnant' .

So, should I wait till Wednesday or should I contact my GP now? Or should I call the IVF clinic and tell them? Or am I jumping the gun? Is there anything else I should do?

Are you supposed to carry on with acupuncture / keep avoiding cold drinks and food / taking all the conception-related supplements when you actually get preggers? I have never felt so clueless! Blush

BFP – what now?

I've never been through ivf so I'm not sure if it's different but if your taking folic acid/vitamins then yes you carry these on.
Usually you would contact your gp who would either refer you to a midwife for a booking appointment for around 8-10 weeks or they have community midwives at the surgery who they will give you an appointment for but as you are through ivf I would maybe give your clinic a call and ask them the procedure just incase it's different. Congratulations x

Congratulations!!!!!!! Never heard of avoiding cold food/ drinks but be careful what you take - antihistamines, ibuprofen etc can be harmful. No harm in carrying the pre conception vitamins on, I carried on taking them until I used them up then maybe move on to a pregnancy one. I think it's safe to carry on the acupuncture if you want - make sure you tell them you are pregnant though! I didn't bother myself once I got a BFP. I'd contact your GP and they'll tell you what to do. Mine said to self refer to midwife but maybe depends on the area? Congrats again :)

I would myself leave it until I was 2 weeks after testing incase, I then went to my surgery and self referred. But you've said Ivf clinic, so I think in this case I would ring them first and see what they advise?

I've never heared of the cold drink thing, i think you can still have acupuncture but don't quote me on that and I started taking pregnacare as soon as I found out.

Congratulations!
Certainly contact your clinic to let them know your news. They will probably arrange a confirmatory scan once you are 6-8 weeks.
In the meantime look at the website for your local hospital maternity department which will tell you how to book for maternity care. It is different everywhere so you need to look. In many cases there is no need to see your GP for this. Doing a maternity referral will start the offers of midwife care, obststricai appointments, scans etc. Ideally you should see a midwife for the first ("booking") appointment at about 8-9 weeks
Keep taking your pre-conception supplements (with folic acid) until 12 weeks.
